From our first full day in Quebec City, we continue to LOVE the character and charm here.  Need proof?  See below.  Still have two and a half days left so we can be really in-depth for exploring and experiencing the history in this city that goes way, way back to the early 1600's.  

 

Talk about a Time Machine!!  Any added tips suggestions to share for experiencing Quebec City?

Did an amazing, special collection at their Museum of Art centered around the famed British designer Alexander McQueen.  His fashions are displayed in connection with historic art to reflect his unique and pioneering style.  Amazing collection that ties in  with so much history and innovation.  He not only did dresses, but unique hair covering, shoes, etc.  Fascinating and stimulating display that was well worth seeing!:

 

 

 

Here are just few more visual samples from yesterday, including at a fun market in their Arts District, their famed Fairmont Le Chateau Frontenac Hotel and a tasty dinner last night.  Lots of interesting architecture here!:

I went on a photography expedition to Tasik Muda otherwise known as Lake Muda in Malaysia. Stayed at a lodge called Earth Lodge Malaysia and this was what the group that I was with saw on the first day. 

This an Asian elephant female escorting her young baby elephant across the river making sure that no harm comes to the baby.

Yesterday included visiting Île d'Orléans, Montmorency Falls that’s 30 metres higher than Niagara Falls and Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupré Shrine, the oldest pilgrimage site north of Mexico.  Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupré is  one of five national shrines in Québec and was late last July a site where Pope Frances performed mass.  

 

Below are a couple visuals for this spectacular Catholic location.  Also, cute kids playing in the colorful and fast-changing water feature in front of Quebec City's City Hall.  Plus, my wife and I are shown in front of their famous waterfall.

A few impressions from my visit to the Sydney Tramway Museum

Last week it was the posters. This week was the second half of my voluntary(?) stint as Ice Show photographer. Sunday was showtime and I rode out our steamy tropical storm in a brisk 38° environment for both showings of the program. Honestly, spending five hours in an artificial winter while warm rain sprinkled humidity from the sky was not the hard part of the day. Standing up on the viewing platform firing off shot after shot with a few pounds of high-end imaging tech for most of those five hours was the real chore. A quick scan of the roughly 3,500 images was made, and I will spend the next few days culling repeats and the surprisingly few blurries. At about 700 shots in, I found the winner for week 33. Young Jackie’s skill on the ice comes through again!

Just type your words. Once done you can either upload an image ("choose files")

 

 position your cursor where you want it then click "insert".

 

Or you can simply copy and paste it wherever your cursor is positioned.

 

It really doesn't matter what order you do the insertion of the image or text. I just find it easier to type what I want and put the images where I want them later.

 

You can also change a post for about 20 minutes after posting by choosing "Edit" from the action menu.

At Quebec City's La Buche, they had a charming Canada-style interior and vibe that was super fun.  Plus, the food was wonderful, including an amazing French Onion soup and bison main entree.  Then, the dessert was from heaven!!:

Quebec City is unique with its still-standing walls surrounding its historic areas.:

 

Here are a couple more views/angles of the Fairmont Le Château Frontenac Hotel.  It was built by Canadian Pacific Railway, first opened in 1893. This most photographed hotel in the world twice hosted Winston Churchill and Franklin Roosevelt for World War II planning.:

 

 

Here is a view of Montmorency Falls, 272’ tall, 99’ higher than Niagara Falls. with tourism ship in the foreground in this part of the Saint Lawrence River.:

Below are more visuals from Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupré Shrine.  It is the oldest pilgrimage site north of Mexico and 19 miles east of Quebec City.  The current Basilica was built in 1926, It was visited last summer by Pope Francis in late July 2022. Then, we arrived this past summer?  Were we in great company?

 

As noted, we were amazing by the design, details and overall, moving impression at this religious site.  We are not Roman Catholic, but we viewed this location as one of our top highlights for our time in and around Quebec City. 

 

It has been credited by the Catholic Church with a variety of miracles for curing the sick and disabled. It is an important Catholic religious sanctuary, which receives about a half-million pilgrims each year.  Per Wikipedia, the total length of the building is 344 feet long, 157 feet wide; with a transept width of 200 feet. The height of the building's steeple is 299 feet.

Here are more visuals from our visit to Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupré.  It can seat up to 1300 and has this long central part of the cathedral. Second shows some of the special doors created by cooper artist Albert Gilles. Also shown are various other parts of this main sanctuary.:
