Price Changes: How Often?

How often can cabin prices change?  Daily, weekly?  I'm trying to figure out how often I need to check pricing.  Thanks.

They can change multiple times per day.   Typically if you check daily you will catch most of them.  I find that at times especially on the weekends there may be a dip for a couple of hours.

Personally I check frequently.    In my case I generally book CS and RS's and often there is no inventory to check prices against so is not uncommon for a cancellation to occur and find a price reduction. 

 

To make the task easier - do a mock booking up to the page where they show all the room categories and then I bookmark the page and drop on my desktop.    With just one or two clicks I can check the rate.

They can actually change per hour, just like the airlines.

Agree with all of the above. I do typically find the lowest right when the listing comes out or when the cruise is very soon, before final payment if that helps.

You should always check the official website first as it'll always be up to date on price changes, I typically check every morning or afternoon.

 

I also use Cruiseplum to keep track of the prices, it is very helpful and keeps track of your cruiseline prices for all rooms and dates. It's not my website or a TA(I believe it to just be a cruise tracker), so i think I'm allowed to suggest it here. Anyway, it has a linear graph so you can also see when prices are rising or lowering, just find your sailing through the search bar.

Thanks for the tip!! We check fairly regularly for all cruises that we've booked and this trick makes it easier. Important to check often when already booked to get the lower price if and when they drop.

Given the frequent price changes, when you find a satisfactory price how do you lock it in?  Do you quickly contact your travel advisor to make the booking, do you place the booking a courtesy hold until your travel advisor can make the booking, do you book it (and pay the deposit) and then transfer the booking to your travel advisor?  Thanks for any advice.

Place it on 24hr hold.  Then contact your travel provider.  If you need call Celebrity and ask them to extend the hold.  Generally they will give you a few extra days.

Good ideas. Personally, we book so far in advance (well over a year when prices tend to be lower), we don't worry a lot about the price, and book the cruise we want. Then we monitor the price over the next year and re-book at lower prices through our travel agent.

I am always grateful when you bring up this short cut.  If I only I could remember to use it more regularly.  It is so frustrating how many steps it takes to get to that point in the mock booking process.  Even worse if one is checking on multiple itineraries.
