Yes, indeed, this is my gal pal cruise. Get this: he is so insecure that I think he has talked not only his sister, but also his mother into tagging along with us. They haven't booked yet, but the thought it is haunting! LOL! Seriously, we get along with them just fine, so we don't care, the more the merrier & it's a big ship. But still -isn't that kinda extreme, ya know?! Sheesh!

Yes, good list of characters, I do agree...even some that weren't mentioned. I can't wait until Oct 2005!

Hopefully, you will join us all so I can get you back! Or, you could at least try to make it up to me with a foo foo drink(s) peace offering.

Happy sailing,
T.

Sexy...it must have been a 4 or 5 day cruise...a cruise sold out in June is NOT always sold out in October...so keep checking from time to time and it could work out...and you gotta tell me where you worked that had that cheer ...later T...Jake

I am going on my first cruise without my husband. He is unable to go at the time of our summer cruise when my kids are off from school. But I am taking my two daughters one who is graduating high school. We are going with my parents, sisters and cousins. I wish my husband could come, but hope to have a wonderful time and make the best of it with my family members. Hopefully, we will like cruising and can do another when we all can go. I have gone on many trips without my DH but I've never cruised without him. I'm not saying I won't ever cruise without him though.

I took my best friend on her very first cruise a few months ago. She was so worried about leaving her children for 7 days and I had to beg her to go with me because I knew she needed a vacation. She never takes time for herself. Reluctantly, she agreed to go with me. We had so much fun together! 6 weeks later we went one more time, this time I didn't have to beg her to go. She was hooked! We just got home a few weeks ago from the second cruise. We had just as much fun the second time as we did the first. Her children and her boyfriend of 15 years (my cousin) was SO happy that she went and had a great time! 8 days after we got home she had cardiac arrest and was dead for up to ten minutes before they got her heart beat back (it took 6-8 times shocking her heart to bring her back) I have to add we just celebrated her "35" birthday 2 days earlier. Yes she is only 35 years old. This happened 15 days ago. She is of course, still in the hospital and doctors aren't very hopeful we will ever have her back like she was. She can't talk or walk yet. But she is alive and knows us and we talk to her all the time and she can smile and say at the most a few words. I have spent days at the hospital with her, and everytime I tell her to get better so I can take her on another cruise, she SMILES. I will forever treasure the memories we made and I am grateful that I was able to take her with me on the cruises and that she got the time off work to enjoy them. I gave her some happiness before tragedy struck. She has 4 children (one set of twins) and the two times she went on the cruise somehow prepared them for what was to come. Being away from their mother isn't as devastating as it would have been if she never went. So you see, life is so very precious and you just do not know what day can be your last. So to everyone, enjoy life and as you can tell I agree that people should be able to leave their SO or husband/wife to go on a cruise with some friends. Nothing is wrong with that. My boyfriend goes to Africa on his own for a Safari, and he said he will NEVER cruise so he encourages me to go and have a wonderful time and he even encouraged me to go on the second cruise with my bestfriend. I'm grateful to him, for giving me that freedom and in return I was able to give my best friend some happiness.

VACATIONS! My DH is alot of fun when taken out of the work mode. The girlfriends I would take a vacation with are not half the fun he is. Besides I need him with me for specific reasons and to spend HIS money.

I have cruised with dh and with friends without him. In less than 2 weeks I will be taking my first solo cruise. We are VERY happily married(21 years), but he started a new job and has very little vacation time, and I am addicted to cruising, LOL. In September I am cruising with my sis, and in October my dh and I are cruising, just the two of us.

Marie, Thank you so much for praying for my friend. I just came back from the hospital, I stayed with her for 4 hours tonight. She was awake but can't talk, but she tries. It is sad beyond words. Thank you again for your kind message. It means very much to me.

I have cruised twice without my DH. First time with my sister and the second time with my sister and my son (his first) I currently have my first solo cruise booked for Sept 2004.

I would rather crise with my DH but he changed jobs 3 years ago and only gets 2 weeks vacation a year. I get four and I usually take them all. If that means cruising with my sister or solo so be it.

SSSkipper.. my prayers go out for your friend. I know the feeling. I had my first heart surgery at 29. I have since had another heart surgery, cancer, and recently had a stroke less than 2 months ago. I also need another heart surgery due to aneurysms that keep forming on my aorta. I leave this Sunday for a solo cruise. I can not tell you all how much I need this cruise. As you said, SSS...enjoy life. That is what I do best. Keep telling your friend to hurry and get well, so that you can cruise again. Talk about some of the things you all did. She will love hearing about the fun you had, and will have again. Keep the encouragement coming. On cruising w/o my sweetie.. He understands that this is something I have to do. Since he can't go this trip, he gave me this trip as a Mothers' Day present. I like these kind of presents

J and InCharge, Thank you for your kind words about my friend. We are all praying she can recover in time. Some days are harder than others, because dr's say for us not to expect much more recovery than she is right now. Then other people have shared stories that give us hope. I do talk to her very much and tell her to keep trying to get well and I tell her as soon as she does I will take her on the best cruise ever. InCharge, I hope you have the best cruise when you leave this Sunday! I am so happy to hear you are going on a solo cruise, enjoy yourself! I just return from a 3 night cruise without DH. It was 15 of my friends and family (all women) and we had a GREAT time. I think it is already and necessary to have time away from your significant other. They say "Absent makes the heart grow fonder" I say go for it...

DH has always encouraged me to have some alone ME time and it has made me a better person.

I am a native Californian who has lived in Tennessee for the last 8 years. I have been married for 13 years and have 3 children. In September I am going on a "Girl's Only" cruise for 7 nights on the Conquest. While at first my husband was dead-set against it. I reminded him of all of his trips to Talledga speedway with his pals... and believe me after seeing the pictures, there is no way I could get into 1/2 as much trouble or even experience close to what he did. Out of all the pictures he took.. none were of cars. lol. I simply told him that next time he goes I wanted to display my rack for photo opportunities!!!!

You can take the girl out of the city, but you can't take the city out of the girl!!!

Add me to the ranks of the "Ladies" that have cruised with their DH. Hubby takes a solo dive trip every year, he kept after me to take a cruise with friends to make up for his "extra vacation". Finally I gave in....then after 3 or 4 girls cruises, I wound up taking a solo cruise and loved it. It has now become a "traditional" thing....hubby dives for a week solo, and I cruise for a week solo.
Spoilt...who is looking forward to her next Solo cruise with the Partae Pirates in February.
