I can’t find it now but read somewhere on here about a place that sells special pastries. I think it might have been something like Leonard’s and the pastries started with a M. I might be wrong about that.

Try "Malasadas".  They are made throughout Hawaii and not just Oahu.

Malasada are Portuguese doughnuts that were brought to the islands by Portuguese immigrants who came to work the fields.

The image above are from Leonard's on Kapahulu Street, which is the Diamond Head end border of Waikiki.

In Waikiki there is Liliha Bakery where you can get them too.

We always hit up Leonard's Bakery for hot malasadas.  Almost next door is THE best shave ice place in Hawaii.  We were in Lahaina in January and discovered Ululani's.  Turns out they also had a newer location next to Leonard's on Kapahulu. They now have several locations. Ice is finest shave I've ever seen, with syrup made from real flavors, and homemade ice cream under the shaved ice. Broke Da Mouth!
