  1. The Irvine Marriott, Hyatt Regency John Wayne Airport and Renaissance Newport Beach Hotel all have airport shuttles and nice onsite dining.
  2. This is the "right" answer. People have their own likes and dislikes, but overall the CP is a better location. The terminal is even walkable.
  3. SNA (John Wayne) is our home airport and we love it. Hate LAX.
  4. Portside Pier is right next to the cruise terminal with 3 or 4 restaurants, mostly seafood. For Italian you'd want to walk up to Little Italy and there are a half dozen or more good places.
  5. Long Beach Convention Center or a hotel that has a Park & Cruise.
  6. Yes. I am a seasoned citizen and I need assistance from the curb to check-in and check-in onto the ship (requires two different people, two different wheel chairs). The driver can drop you where the porters are and the porters will come to you usually. Personnel at the curb help arrange a wheelchair and escort for me. I tip both the escorts $10. Uber can drop off curbside as far as I know. We get rides from our son or daughter. Times when my son and DIL were coming with, we've never had a hard time at San Pedro finding handicapped parking right up front. This is over about 15 Princess trips, 3 NCL and 3 Celebrity. Don't get me started on Long Beach (there is a reason they are named Carnival. Embarkation Day is a 3 ring circus. Lots of clowns, no lion tamers).
  7. We've never heard tipping the porters isn't allowed. Every does (or should). We tip $5 a bag, and $10 for the person who wheels me from the curb to check-in. I can walk with a cane, but I can't walk the distances required from curb to ship and then the weird ship serpentine they make you navigate.
  8. If the ship has a Molokini excursion, take it, other wise it could be difficult. Do it as early as possible.
  9. Don't use expedia.... Uber and Lyft Black pick up curbside, so does any private town car/limo service, which will cost double an Uber or Lyft from Lax-it.
  10. It depends on which terminal you come into. There are taxi stands by terminal TBIT/Terminal 3 and Terminal 7/8, otherwise, yes.
  11. I wonder why Hilo Walmart stopped the Roberts shuttle. Last time we were there (Oct 2022) they filled up bus after bus. I'd say few hundred passengers made the trek.
  12. Not sure if the original poster has been here yet, but driving is the easiest, best solution.
  13. Caring about the tree doesn't mean people don't care about the loss of human life. The tree is a powerful symbol to many people. Two of my cousins were Lahainaluna graduates in the mid to late 1940's, their ancestral home burned in the fire, but thankfully with no loss of life. It is a tragedy all the way round and any positive development is welcomed.
  14. Napoleon's Bakery, inside Zippy's restaurants, has great pastries too. We love Leonard's.
  15. For a good value on the beach in Waikiki, look at the two Outrigger Hotels, for the best, well that is Halekulani. For value just across from the beach, look at the Park Shore Waikiki, Twin Fin, Queen Kapiolani, Marriott Waikiki and Hyatt Regency Waikiki.
  16. I like October weather better, but sitting in Lahaina Roads on my balcony and seeing whales in April is thrilling.
  17. It did of course fall on deaf ears. Every city in Orange County where I live has different rules for vacation rules. The cities with the most tourists, which are Anaheim, Huntington Beach, Laguna Beach, San Juan Capistrano and San Clemente have the strictest rules. Only Newport Beach, which has a long tradition of vacation rentals going back nearly a century, has laxer rules. We know people who almost lost their properties in Waikiki and Kailua because of the crack down from the county of Honolulu.
  18. The Walmart bus is the Robert's Hawaii Bus, that is who Walmart contracts with. I don't understand why Walmart Kauai hasn't contracted with Robert's Hawaii too to resume a shuttle. They would get great business out of it. On previous (pre-Covid) Hawaii trips Walmart did have a shuttle and lots of passengers from Princess used it.
  19. We are not even into Flood Season (one of So Cal's Four Season along with Fire Season and Mudslide Season) yet. They may fix San Clemente but get more issues further south, where they have had previous problems. Just be flexible and have alternatives ready.
  20. I would say not feasible. If you want to see Santa Catalina, come into LA one day early or stay one more day.
  21. Good beaches are in the eye of the beholder. Hawaii Island is not noted for great beaches like Maui and Oahu. The only beaches we really like are the beach at the Mauna Kea Beach Hotel, Hapuna Beach and the beach at the Waikoloa Marriott. There is a beach next to the tender dock, but not 'good' in my view, but it is a beach and it works. Kona is a fun place to stroll, which I did in my younger days.
