Well, it looks as though you reached your conclusion prior to even starting the thread.

In a very dramatic fashion, you made sure you announced your decision IN ALL CAPS so that everyone knows that you "really mean it". (Yet somehow all I can see is Dr Rick explaining what posting in all caps means.)

We have no stake here...no horse in the race. You want to sail NCL? Fine, welcome aboard. You don't want to sail NCL? Fine, bye-bye.

I'm just wondering, given that you've proudly proclaimed your conclusion in advance, why we're even having the discussion? You've already stated your position, and if you were to change it, then you'd be guilty of the very thing you're trying to blame NCL for in the first place.

I started this thread to tell people how NCL says one thing and does another.  And to remind myself never to book NCL again.  It is not about the money I am a retired President and CEO of a company which employed over 100 people, I don't need the money.  I am doing this because it is the principal which matters to me.

My friend and I just cruised NCL for the first time a couple of weeks ago on the Encore. While on board we decided that next year’s girls trip was going to be a Med cruise on Prima. Since that decision was firm, we decided to go to the Cruise Next desk to see what it was about. The rep assured us we could use 4 certs on the same booking and, by purchasing 4 (for the price of 2), she immediately changed us to silver status.

Well, that same afternoon I decided to sit and read all the T&C’s. It was quite clear that we couldn’t use all 4 at the same time and i questioned if we could even use 2. I ended up speaking with the same rep again who said “I said you could use 4 if you booked 2 cabins.” Yeah, no, that’s not how that went. When I asked about using 2 for same cabin she said that NCL pretty much always guarantees that for balcony and above (we do club balcony so no prob there) except when they do the 2 for 1 on all cabins. She even showed me the internal communication that detailed all the promos, with timing, to date for 2023. She also mentioned that Black Friday is a good time to book when using cruise next certs.

At the end of it all, I ended up just buying 2 for $250 and applied both to the 2024 booking I made when I got home from Seattle.

Chances are, you were not lied to. Maybe you didn’t realize the 2 certs were only for a balcony or above or that the promo on all cabins was a periodic thing. Regardless, the document that you get when you make your purchase (which isn’t that long, BTW, and I had no problem reading/understanding a couple/few drinks in) clearly states that any refunds need to be requested within 30 days. So that part is absolutely on you.

I asked about an inside and was told I could use both at one time.

Yeah, "informing" this forum that the on-board NCL CN sales staff might be misleading is like telling us all that there is a good chance that NCL's next promo will be exactly the same as the current promo.  IOW, if somebody here doesn't already know this they are either a) very new or b) very slow.

Maybe so but I expect or rather demand honesty in my business dealing.

And maybe that was true at that time. As has been said promos change frequenly. I have used to certificates on inside cabins twice this year when that was offered. But it's not all the time!

If you look at their signature, the days are going back to 1988.  Its just a brag.

I am 76 and started cruising in 1988.  All my list is a reminder to me of what cruises I have taken. Not a brag.

I booked a cruise a couple of weeks ago and was just able to use one cruise next on the booking as it is an oceanview. This was as expected.

Yesterday I was able to apply a second cruise next against that booking as there is an offer that started this week.

As has been stated, there is a good chance that rather than people outright lying they were just not clear that what was offered at the time was an special offer and wouldn’t always apply.

We use cruise next regularly but never discuss it with the staff. Far better to find out for yourself, as it does seem from reports on here that they aren’t clear when explaining the terms of the vouchers.

Whether they are lying or or just not being clear is a well debated point.

OP…in all frankness, I don’t think there was any deception or dishonesty.  Misunderstanding?  Probably!

Cruise Next gives the same presentation hundreds of times per week.  They probably get many more of the same questions.  So, they tend to go through the details quickly because they repeat them so much!  I’ve listened to dozens of them and write down the details as I understand them and show them to Cruise Next to make sure I understand.

You are getting $500 of cruise credits that you only paid $250 for!

What you misunderstood was how many cruises you could use them on and on which cabins.

Sometimes they have promos allowing you to use more than one CN cert.  I HAVE NEVER SEEN THEM COMBINABLE FOR AN INSIDE CABIN.

But, if you are serious about never cruising NCL, I am indeed interested in your Cruise Next certs.

If you have never seen double up on an inside you simply aren't looking.  In fact, you can currently use 2 on any cabin that's before final pay. But only through Oct 9.

We were on Viva last week and after 4 messages from Cruise Next we decided to look into it for the first time (I'm platinum and my husband is Gold). We got 8 certificates, this was after me asking at least 5 times if we can use 2 deposits for a cruise. I always received the same answer, yes as long as it's a balcony or higher. Never was I told that the double up is a promotion that can only be used at certain times. Like the op, I feel deceived, especially since that was a concern I had and brought up multiple times. I realize it is my fault and I should have read the terms and conditions, BUT I feel like I was lied to by virtue of not disclosing information I specifically asked for.

It's been quite some time since "double up" for balconies and up wasn't the current promo, so highly doubtful that it's going to change any time soon.  It's the double up on any balcony that comes and goes. So no, you can't really say you were deceived until the day comes that they change that promo, which seems to be semi-permanent.

I never said I wanted to sell them.  Like a friend of mine who got a returned check he framed it and put it on his office wall and when people asked about it he told the story.  I just might do the same thing.  I am a retired President and CEO.   s not about the money it is the principal that matters to me.

With all due respect,  you can't throw out that you're a retired CEO and then complain about a company for what lowly paid front line employees tell you when you haven't bothered to read the T&C's, which any CEO knows is the only thing that matters.

When you were a CEO, what would you think about people judging your company on what they interpret they heard a front line employee 50 levels below you said?

You certainly may have a point about the poor presentation and inconsistent knowledge of the employees but you're burying all of that with the over the top hyperbole.

Last cruise, I just went to cruise next and told them I wanted 8 CN certs.  Discussion took 30 seconds.  Then I had DW do the same.  Same result.  Why would anybody here even get into a discussion with them?  We all either know the rules or know where to learn the rules.

When I got home, I applied all 16 certs, two at a time, to future cruises with inside cabins booked.  I still need ten more for cruises in late 2024 and 2025.  I'll have those in December, and will just wait until the next inside double up offer.  Those waits last about a week these days. 😎

It appears that this was the actual goal. No interest in the actual facts, just looking for the comfort of an echo chamber.

Would you? Really? If so, will you fire the clown who claimed 300+ days at sea with only 4 cruises?

Not really. What they were told is exactly how it works, how it has worked for quite some time. So they may think they were deceived but they were in fact given the absolutely correct information.

We still don’t know if you weren’t told the absolute truth. So many scenarios are possible - maybe you bought during a double up period during which 2 certs *could* be used for an inside cabin. Maybe the rep didn’t realize you were asking about an inside cabin. Maybe you didn’t hear the rep say balcony or above.

Regardless, the onus is on you to read the T&C’s. As a former CEO surely you know the importance of that, do you not? They were *given to you* so it’s like like you even had to go searching for them. You had ample time while on your cruise and afterwards to read them.

And since the Double Up promo is currently on, seems to me the wise thing would be to cancel your current reservation and rebook using both certs. Or ask NCL if you can just apply the second one to existing reservation now. Though I suppose it is just easier to blame your lack of due diligence on everyone else.

No need to rebook - just make a payment using a certificate, assuming cruise is still prior to final payment date.
