Walking distance from ship in St. Maarten to taxi stand

We have an upcoming cruise on Wonder of the Seas in a few weeks.  I need to know how far it is to walk from the ship to the taxi stand at the port.  We have someone in our group with health issues and he can't walk too far.  Does Royal Caribbean provide assistance to people, such as a wheelchair or tram at this port?  If it's a short distance, maybe a quarter mile, he could probably do that but it will also depend on the heat that day.  Thanks.

It also depends where the ship docks, so the walk could be as much as a half mile. There's a tram service operated by locals that will bring you the end of the pier. And yes, it's always hot. Why not rent a scooter before you get on the ship?

Not a half mile to the taxi stand, but about a 1/2 mile of walk to the port area and beach, I've always done that instead of that water taxi that takes about as long. The walk from the furthest point on the pier to the taxi area is no more than 400 yards.    image.thumb.png.332b60a497e62aff147e1a2f93ab6d77.png

Ships used to have a Golf Cart service for those with limited walking ability.  Paid for by the Line.
It travelled from the Ship to the shopping areas etc., including the Cab Rank.   Then when a returning pax required the Cart, the Cab Captain/Dispatcher called for it.

A small gratuity was always appreciated.

Best to check with RCL if this very welcomed service is still available.
