True water shoes or are crocs okay?

I see people saying water shoes are needed at Ocean Cay in some areas and other places possibly.  Are they meaning actual water shoes that fit like a regular shoe or are crocs, most of which are open on the backside, adequate?

Real water shoes.  I don't think Crocs would work all.  They float and come off to easily.

I paid $2 for my water shoes at Walmart. They worked fine and I continue to use them at OC. I also recommend them for use on the sundeck since that area can get very hot.

When we finally remembered to bring water shoes to OC on our 4th visit, we were able to enjoy the beach once and for all! The YC beach is nearly impossible without them.
