Hi, has anyone been on excursions on Ventura with a wheelchair.  Mine folds up so will go in the hold of a coach, but I note that it says if the trip is by minibus you can’t go.

does anyone have any advice?

thank you. First time cruising and a bit overwhelmed.

I cannot give you any specific help, but I would tend to re-post this question more generally.  All of the cruise lines use essentially the same buses and vans, so limiting yourself to P&O just limits your answers.  Plus you can post this sort of question on the Ports of Call section for the ports you are going to visit to see if you can get help that way.

Good luck.

It may well depend on the port and the type of transport available. Ship excursions are chartered with local operators. Not all coaches can accommodate wheelchairs. And not all wheelchair users are able to climb the steps into the coach.

It wouldn't hurt to ask this on the P&O forum, specifying the Ports that Ventura will be calling at. Previous cruisers on Ventura may be able to help. And yes, check out the Ports of Call forum for your specific Ports. Another forum that may be of use for you is the Disabled Cruising forum (look under Special Interests Topics.)

Hello @Brabgirl and welcome to the Cruise Critic message board!

Thank you for your new topic on the Ask a Cruise Question forum! However, it is the forum for general questions regarding cruising. Your inquiry concerns cruising with a wheelchair and really should be on another forum for replies from other cruisers using wheelchairs.

To help you out, your new thread has been moved to the Disabled Cruise Travel forum where it will be on topic. It is where your fellow Cruise Critic members with physical limitations share their advice & experiences. Hopefully, those that have sailed on the P&O Cruises ( UK ) Ventura will reply. Please browse through the thread titles on this forum looking for threads of interest. You will probably find your fellow Cruise Critic members have already posted questions and received answers that may be of interest to you.

The Cruise Critic website and message boards are both great resources for new as well as experienced cruisers, and we are so glad you found us! You will find very important instructions or information there.

Also, they may have already posted private share requests that may interest you.

I’ve taken both wheelchair and a scooter on various cruise lines. If you named your ports you’d get a better response.

I never do any overpriced ship excursions.  I do plenty of research before I go.

Look at WhatsinPort, weather there is a HOHO bus, public transport, port shuttles etc.
