I don't think the show is happening tonight. We were on the four-night sailing before and the Aqua show got cancelled. They may have rescheduled it to the last night but if they did we didn’t go since we are getting back on January 14.
Rare Rewind Posted November 8, 2023 Author #78 Share Posted November 8, 2023 (edited) It sprinkled just a bit when we got off the ship but that ended by the time we arrived at the Monkey and Sloth sanctuary. We toured with Victor Bodden and had a great tour. We were the first ones at the sanctuary, hugged a sloth, went to the chocolate factory, saw West End, up to the rum distillery, over to West Bay, saw the beach, back to the Roatan sign, last stop at the Cameo factory, and then back to the ship for lunch. Important note - bring cash. You can use credit cards at most places but there is an 18% charge to do so. Great pictures. We got off the ship about 8:30 and we're back around 11:30. We didn't do any beach time (other than to take a peek). The tour is very customized so you can do what you want. But do try to get off the ship early - beating the rush to the monkeys and sloths was the right way to go as we had a private experience. 1
Rare Rewind Posted November 8, 2023 Author #85 Share Posted November 8, 2023 No runners today - we pulled up the gangways right around 4:30 and we're sailing away just before 5:00.
heffa72 Posted November 9, 2023 #86 Share Posted November 9, 2023 Do they offer 'public skating' on the rink. If they do, I would guess they rent skates??

Ok great, I read on a different post that you have to look for the activity once you board as they don't list it prior to that for reservations/sign-up...but wasn't sure if that was still the case currently (post was 6 months ago). Rare Rewind Posted November 9, 2023 Author #90 Share Posted November 9, 2023 Tonight is Caribbean night and a lot of people are wearing festive shirts. We are now sitting down for the headliner Jennifer Singer and later tonight is the Crazy Quest.

Rare perfect match Posted November 9, 2023 #92 Share Posted November 9, 2023 Even though we have done a number of Western Caribbean cruises, we’ve never been to Routan. We’re scheduled to go there on our September 2024 Wonder cruise. I just booked the Maya Key excursion to lock in the Black Friday price, but may decide to switch to an independent tour provider after I do a little more research. I’m glad to hear that you enjoyed your tour with Victor Bodden. I have heard that his tours are good.
Rare Rewind Posted November 9, 2023 Author #93 Share Posted November 9, 2023 Back to the cabin after the Quest. Very similar to previous quests we have seen / participated / captained before. I had to look it up, but the last quest we were at was five years ago to the day (no Quest when we went to Cuba, we skipped the one when we sailed with my MIL, and then the shutdown). It's good to have it back and had a blast. If you don't want to participate, just sit a bit closer to the back - although participation makes it more fun.

Rare Rewind Posted November 9, 2023 Author #100 Share Posted November 9, 2023 No idea about the concierge, but our stateroom attendant is Albertus and he is very friendly. Just got back from Costa Maya in Mahahual. We did a ship excursion for biking and kayaking. It's an easy bike ride for about 10 minutes to stop at the lighthouse for a break, then another 10 minutes past the resorts to get to the kayak area at Macho's Bar. A break there to get ready and then kayaking out to the coral reef. The water wasn't too choppy but there were a couple waves here and there. Once back at the bar, we rested for 40 minutes, had a quick snack and a drink (not included) and then biked back to the port. It was a great tour but the bikes could use a little oiling.
