Cruise-neophyte Posted November 18, 2023 #1 Share Posted November 18, 2023 We are looking for ships that may have a larger shower, if it exists, as one of us is a larger person. We would we be in a balcony stateroom with Royal Caribbean Voyager of the Seas or Odyssey of the Seas. Or Celebrity Infinity would likely work as well. We look to travel to the Greek Isles so may consider other cruise lines but we are familiar with Royal Caribbean and Celebrity and have traveled them before. We would not break the bank if it had to be some kind of suite. Any ideas are appreciated.
crystalspin Posted November 18, 2023 #2 Share Posted November 18, 2023 The Pinnacle class Holland America ships (Koningsdam, Nieuw Statendam, Rotterdam) have long walk-in showers with glass doors in both Verandah (balcony) and Vista Suite bathrooms. You can see photos here: https://halfacts.com/pinnacle-class/ Some of the mini-galleries are labelled wrong, namely Koningsdam 4098-4119 are labelled "V" when they should be VS (or MS, for mini-suite). If the bed is near the balcony it is a Vista Suite; if the sofa and desk are near the balcony it is a Verandah. If you need a shower that is wider as well as longer, look at the HC/Handicapped verandahs, which will have a barrier-free shower (but it will have a curtain not glass). The Nieuw Statendam is sailing the Mediterranean in 2024 and 2025.
leaveitallbehind Posted November 24, 2023 #3 Share Posted November 24, 2023 On the RCCL and Celebrity ships mentioned the only larger showers will be in the Junior Suite and higher standard Suite categories where it will either be part of a bathtub or separate larger shower. Otherwise, all standard staterooms have the same size shower. The shape may differ between RCCL and Celebrity but the typical compact size will remain the same. So unfortunately you will likely have to break the bank as you indicate to some extent.
Rare Essiesmom Posted November 24, 2023 #4 Share Posted November 24, 2023 I find the showers in verandahs on M class Celebrity ships to be roomy. I also booked an inside HC cabin on Summit just for the seat in the shower, and it was enormous. EM
jbrinkm Posted January 24 #5 Share Posted January 24 Would you consider an accessible stateroom?
