Nora86 Posted November 19, 2023 #1 Share Posted November 19, 2023 We're booked in a mini suite for our February cruise. I use a wheelchair so we had them put us on the wait list for an accessible room and they said we were at the top and would email if one opens up. I saw one open up on the website today so watched our email with no luck. Tried to call and have it changed. No luck. It was hard to understand but he said it wasn't available and I needed to just wait for the email. Then tried to sell me a excursions etc. I can make a dummy booking with it all the way to the non-refundable deposit. The question is should I just settle down and wait for tomorrow and try to deal with the Princess representative we booked with originally? Or should I call again and hope for another agent? I'm hoping somehow the email is behind the amount of booked passengers and it actually may still go to us automatically. There aren't very many accessible mini suites and don't want to miss it, will make a big difference to our enjoyment and places to store both my wheelchair and walker. Thanks in advance
Potstech Posted November 19, 2023 #2 Share Posted November 19, 2023 Make a booking and put it on hold for 24 hours. Then try to get ahold of your original rep to work it out. You could always cancel the old booking and keep the new one.
happy42cruise Posted November 19, 2023 #3 Share Posted November 19, 2023 I suggest you try the chat feature if it's available if you can't put it on hold.
Guest Michael4650 Posted November 20, 2023 #4 Share Posted November 20, 2023 Another reason I use a CVP. You should be able to put a hold on the cabin and talk to someone tomorrow
Nora86 Posted November 20, 2023 Author #5 Share Posted November 20, 2023 I can't hold the room without a deposit. Unless there's a page I'm missing? It just says hold with a deposit today. And the Princess chat is closed. Thanks for the ideas

Nora86 Posted November 20, 2023 Author #7 Share Posted November 20, 2023 This is the end page that doesn't seem to allow a courtesy hold option. I think I'll be crossing fingers and waiting until morning.
Rare Cruise Raider Posted November 20, 2023 #8 Share Posted November 20, 2023 Holds by a passenger are no longer accepted .. think that changed a coupe, weeks ago. You now have to put down a deposit to hold a room. My guess is that some were taking advantage of this. I would suggest for the OP to call back until he gets someone that moves them into an accessible cabin.

Nora86 Posted November 23, 2023 Author #11 Share Posted November 23, 2023 Accessible cabin booked! Two phone calls, one email and finally the chat option. Thanks to all for the advice! 5
Moondogy Posted November 23, 2023 #12 Share Posted November 23, 2023 My DW needs an accessible cabin due to a scooter. I found using a cvp is better. There are accessible cabins available a lot of times that don't show, also if the level of class of cabin isn't available they have to bump you up to the next available class without upping the price. Last trip we had a balcony for the price of an interior.
SargassoPirate Posted November 23, 2023 #13 Share Posted November 23, 2023 Unless one needs a handicapped accessible room for reasons beyond the scooter, there's no worries. Just park it in the exit corridor overnight since Princess refuses to enforce SOLAS and their own policy about mobility devices must be stored inside the cabin when not in use. I have yet to see any enforcement - and I have an email response to my complaint where the Princess rep was clueless enough to admit there's lax enforcement because they don't want to ruin anyone's vacation.
