pesonal shade tent/umbrella at HMC?

Are we allowed to take a small shade tent (we'd sit on towel on sand, top of shade tent hits just above head)? OR can we bring a typical beach umbrella? Or are the ship's clamsells all that are allowed?

There is no restriction on what you may bring to Half Moon Cay as long as it is not too bulky and easy to carry on and off the tender.

IMO your own would probably be more comfortable  - the clamshells are not vented and get hot inside.

Don’t rent the beach umbrellas that are under the excursions!  We just did that on our November cruise. You have drag a heavy bag that holds the  umbrella a small shovel and a plastic “pouch” that you have to fill with sand. There is no point at the end of the umbrella pole. It is a lot of work and then at the end of the day you have to pack it up and bring it back to excursion hut. Horrible!

Some of the clam shells are vented but you can always ask the attendants to prop the back up a few inches or do it yourself if you need to.

Will an attendant do it for you if you ask and offer a tip?

We've been taking our own large beach umbrella to the private islands as well as regular island beaches for a few years now. It has a carrying case/bag and we just put a luggage tag on it when we get on the ship. Granted, could not easily do that if flying.
