Does it start at midnight the day of? Do you need to complete the the check in to get a port boarding time? Steps to get the boarding time?

Midnight eastern time (Miami/New York time) 14 days out from your cruise.  If your cruise departs on the January 27, you can check-in at midnight on the 13th.  Diamonds and Platinums can check-in 16 days out.

 

You can choose an arrival time (not a boarding time) and fill out the rest later.  It is the last step in the check-in process, but you can skip all the way to the end.

in the broswer, app is useless until you get onboard the ship

for platinum, online check in opens 2 days extra at 16 days prior to sail date

If you turn Platinum on the cruise, you will be able to check-in 16 days out.

And I think your booking number info and boarding tags will go ahead and say Platinum on them! Log into your account on the CCL website and see if it's already changed over. Sweetest thing ever, seeing that word on my documents! Loving that laundry perk!
