I couldn’t agree more. If the OP boards by herself, she will be charged full price for the cabin.

Just don't cancel the person before the cruise, because they might refare the cruise and charge you more. Just say the other person couldn't make it when you board, and they'll automatically refund the port fees. This is becoming a secret way to avoid price gouging of solo cruisers on Celebrity and Royal C now, who are charging up to 5x more for one passenger than they are for two together. I did it myself on a Mexico Celebrity cruise in October, using my niece as a second person and then collecting her fees/taxes back when she was a no-show.

I agree, do NOT cancel the other person ahead of time. I knew if my friend was not able to go (thankfully I found another friend at the last minute 🙂 ), my PVP told me I would lose at least $500 or more.

That was Celebrity.  Did you have insurance?  Did they charge you a single supplement?  Not condoning this method.  Just curious.

 

Isn't this similar to the person who buys a cheaper segmented airline ticket and gets off before the end destination (forget what it is called)?  Frowned on by airlines and could result in being banned by the airlines.

Poster hasn't checked back in recently.  I know I am interested in the final decision.  Hope OP informs everyone that took the time to respond.  Cruise is in a couple of weeks (February 3).
