The Tribe has Spoken!! Carnival Celebration - 1/14/2024 (with pics)

Recommended Posts

After eating we hung out in the cabana for a bit. Here are some afternoon views of the pool area. It’s much more crowded than it was earlier this morning…..

Around 2pm we decided to head back to the ship. We asked Wilbur to finalize the bill for the four of us. For six buckets of beer (no we didn’t drink all of them, we shared!), a couple of cocktails for the ladies, our lunch, and a generous tip for Wilbur, the total came out to be north of $300. We pulled our cash together and said our goodbyes. Here is a map of the Amber Cove complex…..

IMG_2804-XL.jpg

We walked through the Plaza and into the duty free store. At the exit they checked our id’s and ship card. Like magic, #11 was waiting there to take us back to the ship…..

IMG_2815-XL.jpg

IMG_2817-XL.jpg

Once back at the cabin we saw today’s towel creature…..

IMG_2819-XL.jpg

I immediately took a nap, but Patti relaxed on the balcony until it was almost time to sail away. It’s back on board time…..

IMG_2826-XL.jpg

It looks like we have a pier runner…..

The crew is packing up the gangways prior to sailing…..

We were just planning to eat at the Marketplace tonight. Around 6pm as Patti was using her flat iron, it shorted out and tripped the breaker. Here’s the culprit…..

IMG_2844-XL.jpg

We called Guest Services, and it took the electrician over an hour to come and reset the breaker. Afterwards, we made our way up to the Marketplace for dinner. Here are some views of some of the seating…..

IMG_2845-XL.jpg

IMG_2846-XL.jpg

IMG_2850-XL.jpg

IMG_2851-XL.jpg

Here is the Beer Station…..

IMG_2848-XL.jpg

Here are some of the selections on the buffet tonight. They are mostly the same as you will find on tonight’s MDR menu……

IMG_2852-XL.jpg

IMG_2853-XL.jpg

IMG_2854-XL.jpg

Here are our plates……

IMG_2855-XL.jpg

IMG_2856-XL.jpg

Pat & Jim join us after having their dinner from the deli. We hung out for a while before grabbing some ice cream and heading back to our cabins to relax before heading to the Family Feud Live After Hours show later tonight.

At 10:30pm we head down to Deck 7 to meet up with Pat & Jim, grab a drink, and then get in line before the doors opened at 11pm. If we look tired it’s because it is way past our bedtime!

IMG_2857-XL.jpg

Once the doors opened, we all got seats in the first few rows. We are here to root for Megan’s team, the Prissy Pink Cousins! Many of us are wearing our Tribe Cruise t-shirts. Patti leaned on the stage and got this group shot…..

IMG_2860-XL.jpg

Again we are warned that photos and video are strictly forbidden!

IMG_2859-XL.jpg

Megan had the opportunity to answer two questions, and both of her answers were on the board, but the first one was particularly funny and it went something like this:

Lee Mason:  Name something that you don’t want to see on your Grandpas night stand.

Megan: Lube!!

Lee Mason: You mean like motor oil for a car?

Megan:  No, for Grandma!!

Hilarious!! It was the # 3 answer. Other answers included sex toys and Granny porn. For those of you playing at home, the number one answer was “condoms”!

Though Megan’s team didn’t win, a good time was had by all. Good job ladies!!!

IMG_2861-XL.jpg

Now it’s way past our bedtime. Thanks goodness we have a later arrival in San Juan tomorrow. Today was a Cheers nightmare! Our tally for today: Patti (0), Jeff (1), or (-11) for the day. We are now (-8) for the cruise. Can we rebound? Stay tuned and see!

Coming up next: Our return to Old San Juan!

Only been to Amber Cove once, didn't care for it. Now I know why. We rented an umbrella, sat in our loungers, went in the pool, well one little area of the pool, went to the restaurant for lunch, went back to the ship.

Seeing all Patti's pics I now know I missed EVERYTHING! I had no idea all that was there🤦

Look at them bathing beauties!

Pam got her a couple of braids. Wish I would have taken a close up of them.

I will be taking lessons from this cruise and Patti. There is no such thing as too many pictures!

Love me these masks.

But what do I love better?

Hiney mooring lines wrapped lovingly around a cleat.

My father collected cleats. I have them.

Don't know. We would never rent the Ocean or Hillside cabanas, but that's just us. Patti did mention that the water looked better than it has in the past. 🤔

From reading your past Reviews we've been looking to reserve one of the Pool Cabanas for our 11-day Carnival Venezia Cruise in  October and only the Hillside and Ocean Cabanas are/have been advertised since we booked and we booked the Cruise in March of 2023 and looked at the Excursion list immediately.

Because there's 10 of us we were looking to book the Private Oasis on HMC as well (have booked the Oasis twice before) and that was marked as 'Sold Out' back then. It's an Ultra Casino Cruise (we were invited but it would have cost us $ 1800.00 US more to book into the Ultra vs the casino Offer we used to book) so wondering if the Casino has the Oasis and the Pool Cabanas reserved/booked for the Ultra Group...don't expect you to know the answer as I was just thinking using a keyboard 🙂

Sorry, I was SNOT going to miss it, but something got into me.

I can finally say as of today it's 100% gone. Yes, it lasted that long.

Glad you are finally feeling better. My cousin sailed the week after us, and tested positive for the vid when she got home.

Day # 4  -  (January 17th)  -  San Juan -  (10am – 7pm).

Even though we didn’t get to bed until 1am, we were up at 7am for the day. It was warm and sunny, and the seas were fairly calm. Here are the views from our balcony as the Carnival Celebration is sailing towards San Juan……

Once Patti was ready, she went up to the Marketplace for breakfast, while I hung out in the cabin working on pictures. Around 8am I went up to Bar 820 for some coffee, and then up to the Red Frog Tiki Bar for some bloody Marys. I was soon joined there by Vic & Donna.

Patti had finished her breakfast and was out exploring. Here are a few pictures at the Beach Pool…….

Only the lower level of the Red Frog Tiki Bar is open this early in the morning…..

A little after 9am Patti notices that we are about to sail into San Juan. I order a bloody Mary to go, and we head back to our cabin to watch us sail in from our balcony. We love watching us sail past the Castillo San Felipe del Morro (El Morro), and the old walled city…..

We have been having breakfast in Pig and Anchor. They have a small Buffett that is not very crowded. But today we headed to Shack’s Big Chicken. They have a small breakfast: chicken & biscuit, biscuit & egg with choice of meat and a Three Cheese Omelet. They also had yogurt, grits, juice, and some of their staples. Like fries. You can be like me and pretend that they are breakfast potatoes.
