I know this has been covered before but could not find any results in a search.

last year I bought a couple hundred shares of RCL.

is there any benefit like OBC or anything else?

I’m on the Apex in a couple weeks and was wondering if it is worth checking into.

You might have put it off too long but it’s worth trying anyway

OBC the amount varies depending on the length of the cruise. You need 100 shares to get the benefit having extra doesn't get you extra. Only one claim per cabin per cruise

I bought stock when in the 40s  and sold, thought I would keep it just for the OBC but 3x invest much better choice, not like Im going to go on that many cruises with Celebrity down the road as I am aiming for River cruises and smaller ships for the next few years it looks like.

I normally submit the request and a copy of my brokerage statement via the RCL website. The credit has shown up in my cruise account as quickly as a couple of days and as long as 2 weeks.

Does anyone know how quickly the credit can be approved?

we changed to a B2B 48 hours before the start of the second cruise and the credit was approved within 24 hours and showed on our OB Account from the first day of the second cruise. Often the credit doesn't show until day 2.

Thanks for all the replies.

I spoke to Celebrity today and they sent a link to include my brokerage statement and reservation number.

I will keep checking though since we sail on 3/16.The rep implied they could apply ti in time.

  • 4 weeks later...

So this did not have a happy ending.

I submitted my statement from Merrill and kept waiting for the credit to show up.

It did not,

Called again and they gave me the email address again so I re submitted.

Nothing!!

Finally I called the day before embarkation and was transferred to a couple different people.

After 20 minutes ,they got back on and advised me that my name was not on the statement.

Huh??

I was already in Fort Lauderdale and it would have been very difficult to get anything.

I asked the rep why they did not contact me.He did not have an answer.

So ,no big deal but lesson learned..

The whole process was done online and took me no more than about ten minutes.  Celebrity got back to me in about 24 hours.

I did the same process with HAL and it took about three days to get back with me.

Usually, my request for shareholder OBC has been denied as it is not available under the promotions I had booked.  This year, I decided to try again.  Within 48 hours it was approved!

I had bought shares at $25 a share and it paid $1 annually with its dividend.  Now it is $139 but pays no dividend.  I think a decent purchase so far.

never had a single request refused - just make sure the paperwork clearly shows your name as well as the number of shares etc.

Current Brokerage statement less than 90 days old.

  • Your name matching the name on the reservation.
  • 100 RCL Shares.

The rules are pretty clear---and I'm of the mind it's not their responsibility to inform you if you fail to comply with them.

It is not their responsibility but after two phone calls they should have been able to tell me what the problem was.

If they told me the problem on my second call ,it could have been fixed.
