I got left behind for breakfast!  I have been on only one HAL cruise where the clock wasn’t adjusted for port time.  When we arrived at the Pinnacle Grill, the Maître d‘ told us they were closed and we had to go eat in the Lido.  😭

Carnival doesn't change time in the Caribbean.  Of course, they have to on TAs.

 

Both Carnival and NCL (the only 2 lines I've done TAs on other than HAL) changed the time at night, which is why I was a little surprised when HAL changed it midday.

 

I'll find out how Virgin handles it in April.

 

I learned early on to NOT allow my phone to automatically update.  That was on a Caribbean sailing on Carnival many years ago.  I had an early independent excursion and got my teenage daughter up so we'd have time for breakfast (we were in an interior cabin). She was not happy when we were ready to disembark and realized we hadn't even docked yet.  Oops.

In January we went from Sydney to New Zealand and we crossed 2 time zones on the way to NZ in 2 days. Each night we advanced 1 hour so that when we got to our first port we were on local time.

Oh! I would imagine it can get confusing if the ship’s time is different than the “real” time! Thanks for sharing😀

On an Eastbound TA if they change time at noon how does that affect MDR lunch? (Which is usually pretty short to start with)

We turned off automatic time update. On our last cruise, the Nieuw Statendam had just got back from dry dock in Italy. Any time we used the auto time from the ship's network, we wound up with clocks set for Livorno, Italy.

 

1 just set the phone manually to the ship's time.
