Because there is NO situation in Haiti

Yeah everything is just fine 😂

I’m not specifically talking about Labadee but Haiti in general. They I be hourly acknowledged something is going on or it wouldn’t have come up at all!

But this is a cruise blog.  Nothing happening that effects cruising.

Plenty of info on cruise sites to plan accordingly. Few boats with automatic weapons could take hostages, loot the ship, including the casino. Would be a nightmare. Highly unlikely but, people claiming it can't be done are naïve to how the real world works.

Somalia pirates can definitely pull this off and Haiti is fast becoming lawless Mogadishu of the Caribbean.

But clearly it was raised at the event or they wouldn’t have mentioned they are still Stopping there, so it does affect cruising!

Well, Oasis has docked; I hope they don’t lose the ship!

To be fair, it would be far easier to storm the capital if they commandeered a cruise ship. Johnny Depp did several movies highlighting the benefits of stealing someone else’s ships.

Yep.  We’re here.  Not sure whether people are disembarking yet (I haven’t heard an announcement) but no reason to believe they won’t be disembarking as usual.   Beautiful out, today.  I won’t be getting off (but I never get off). Dan will probably go snorkeling.

Have you heard "Perfect Day" played yet?

Answering questions at Captain’s call is hardly effecting cruising

The word is affect, not effect 😉

my point is it IS a matter of concern for some cruisers and has either been asked or brought up at captains corner. Therefore there is an impact. But you clearly have an opinion that probably won’t be swayed regardless of what happens…..

From what I have read, it seems the main goal of the gangs are to force the current PM to resign and have open elections. The current PM is in Puerto Rico and the gangs do not want him to return and are threatening Civil War. Looks like airlines are stopping flights into Haiti as well

Storming Labadee or Cruise Ships do nothing to advance the gangs goals and be detrimental to their cause as the US is pressing the current PM as well to transition into elections for new PM. Storm Labadee and/or cruise ships and anger the US. Not what the gangs want

Not to say that its not a big mess in Haiti right now and anything could be possible but its a low probability anything would happen at Labadee or cruise ships.

Yes, any travel warning to any country is a concern to some cruisers but its important for cruisers to see why there is a travel warning and the likelihood it would affect them.

If cruisers won’t book then they will take Labadee off the itinerary. Apparently that hasn’t happened yet despite the whining here.

No because the current cruises were booked ages ago and people don’t have a huge choice now.  And for future cruises already booked I’ve seen lots of comments saying people will

wait and see what the situation is nearer the time. It will be a while before any impact will be seen on bookings.

I’m not saying they should or shouldn’t cancel ( I have no skin in the game, I have no cruise to Labadee), but I think it’s foolish to just write it off as nothing and say there’s nothing going on.

Its also foolish to be scaremongering as well and presenting all these far fetched scenarios.

Stay grounded in reality. Yes, Haiti is in turmoil and Royal is fully aware of the situation.

Sadly I'd imagine a large percentage of passengers don't even realize Labadee is in Haiti or that there is unrest in Haiti right now.

Precisely

Also, the more successful visits that occur in the coming weeks will make people

care even less.

How does storming the international airport advance the gangs goals? I mean no flights are going in because they did that. You are trying to apply logic to criminals who are in a poor country.  Desperate criminals do not follow your logic. Not saying they will attack Labadee but just your logic as to why they won't is flawed.

Because they are trying to block the current PM from returning to Haiti. That is why the PM is currently in Puerto Rico. The DR also denied the PM entry

Attacking the airport aligns with their stated goals

I'm curious what makes someone a whiner, not agreeing with you?

They managed to break out of prison in an organized fashion, which likely took months to years to orchestrate - they have a stated political goal - I get that it's easy to dehumanize "criminals who are in a poor country" but they're very much following logic here
