Club balcony?

On the Prima what is the difference between a Club Balcony and a regular balcony?

The word "Club"...... just kidding!!!

If it's the same on Prima as their other ships, the big difference is the bathroom.

It's way bigger with a double sink and a walk-in shower with multiple jets.

It's the best bathroom I've ever been in on a cruise ship.

There are a few perks too.

Some snacks and a free bag of laundry and a couple of other things.

It's all about the bathroom though!

We have not been on the Prima yet.

We are booked next summer ('25) and chose to book the standard balcony even though we usually do Club Balcony.

Based on the videos we've seen, i doesn't seem to show any nicer bathroom on the Prima. Both bathrooms have the same layout it seems. However, the room itself is definitely larger.  In the videos below you can see an extra end table on the side of the sofa.

Club Balcony:

Standard Balcony:

The other perks still exist, but as Platinum, we get most of those perks already.

Those cabins look beautiful!

That would be disappointing if the bathrooms were the same because those club balcony bathrooms were so nice to have if the cost difference wasn't significant.

Enjoy your sailing!

Agree on all fronts...

We changed to Club Balconies a couple of cruises ago because of the bathrooms.  (Getaway, Escape, Encore) but honestly the pricing gap on our Iceland/Norway cruise between a balcony and Club balcony is currently over $1000 pp!!!!!  That's crazy talk!

We also book club balcony cabins and also went with a regular balcony cabin instead for our Viva 2025 cruise.  The additional cost was ridiculous and we are also platinum so the few extra benefits were worthless to us.

On the Prima, the bathrooms in the regular Balcony rooms and the Club Balcony rooms are the same. (We have stayed in both). The Club Balcony rooms is about 35 sq ft bigger with some additional perks.

Does that mean that the bathrooms in the Club Balcony Suites have the “transporter tube” showers?

i'm not sure i know what is meant by "transporter tube" showers, but it implies that they they are tall and narrow. the showers are oversized and can easily accommodate people of size (those who are both tall and wide).

No...they all look like regular walk in showers that run along the full side wall of the bathroom.

The regular bathroom, including the walk-in shower area on the Prima's standard balconies are spacious, roomy and good for people of size - ditto for the toilet area, a design change that's welcomed if your have long legs.  The sink is larger & deeper than the *Away/+ class ... I can't speak to the rainforest showerhead but not worth spending extras $$$$ for, IMHO.  The core living space is larger but for 2 adults, even for a 2 week cruise and port days, does it really matter much unless you plan to stay in the cabin most of the time.  It's the same ottoman / stool and sofa (convertible if it's a family stateroom to a bed)  Other subtle amenities are okay - cookies or treats x 2 times from housekeeping rolling down the corridor in a cart aren't a big deal either.  An extra free laundry is worth just $29 with the onboard special.

Advantage might be - club balconies on other NCL ships tend to have nicer location & decks, some with larger balconies but I'm not sure about the Prima/Viva.

Minimum upgrade bids, upcoming on the Prima is $300 from balcony to a club, times 2 or $600 plus ... pricing-wise, still a $1,000 higher x 2 if booking directly - no thanks, we are fine.  The slightly bigger balcony alone plus the 2 reclining chair is good enough for us ... and we bring the small round table inside to use in front of the sofa 😉   Now, we just need a little DIY decorations to liven up & give "our" cabin some unique characters - it'll be fine.  More money as deposits for the next cruise or to do private shorex instead.

As a side note, most people can easily and inexpensively add a rainfall showerhead to their existing shower at home...probably for less than the cost to upgrade to a CBS from a balcony. 😎

Prima has a limited number of Club Balconies.  They are all forward or aft.  The aft are only available on decks nine to eleven below the Haven cabins.  Our aft CB on eleven was extremely spacious and had a great balcony view.
