Spring Break...away - Semi-Live from the NCL Breakaway! March 10-17, 2024

Recommended Posts

All of our ducks have NCL cruise cards with individual names. We have around 200-250 duck pun names.

Swimmy Buffett (RIP!), Quacky Chan, Duck Norris, LuDUCKris, Feather Locklear, Andrew Quackson, Quack Nicholas, Duck Prescott, Bryson DuckChambeau, and so forth. I enjoyed brainstorming these names. I created the tags in AutoCAD and printed them. My family thinks the whole duck thing is weird but I enjoy it!  Truth is, they do too because they’re constantly asking for the ducks to hide.

We’re out and about deploying more ducks. We brought around 200 ducks to hide and we’re way behind pace!  This extra sea day will allow us to catch up.

If the cruisemapper website is fully loading for me, it appears that no ships docked in Costa Maya today, which is where we’re going tomorrow. It also shows us heading south which feels weird. Maybe we’ll be looping to the north soon.

We missed it in January because water was washing over the pier. Good luck tomorrow.

Sitting here in my aft balcony I see by the wake we are making slowwww circles. Right now going super slow! Hope we find one of your ducks🍀

Manhattan Room for dinner tonight. We also have to change clocks again tonight, which means losing an hour of sleep. With a 7am call in Costa Maya, that’s going to come early!

I’m not terribly confident we’ll dock in Costa Maya after seeing no ships docking there today (per CruiseMapper) but I sure hope we’re able to.

I’m hoping for some dinner then some cards tonight. Mix some drinks in there and we’ll be good!

I walked through the Casino just after 4:30 and the line for the noodle place stretched all the way through the non-smoking side and in to the smoking side and curved over towards the craps table. I guess the skipped port has people in the mood for noodles!!

Dinner in Manhattan was pretty good. I got the stuffed mushrooms and 2 orders of bacon wrapped Cajun seasoned shrimp. I topped it off with the banana split.

Posted (edited)

We added magnets to some ducks and put them in some interesting spots throughout the day. We probably hid 40-50 total and 6 or so had magnets so we were able to get more creative with their placements.

Jeezus!!!  They are upside down. I give up!!

A problem I’m all too familiar with. I either decided the picture wasn’t important enough to post and just deleted it, or I’d have to go into my photos folder, find the picture in question, edit it by rotating it a full 360° and then saving it looking exactly like it did originally. Then when I uploaded it again to the site it was right side up. If it wasn’t the internet being slow it was this site that was messing with me instead.

After dinner we came back to the room and watched an episode of “Full Swing” that I downloaded. That led to another few episodes. The kids went and did their thing and the wife and I enjoyed the quiet time.

The early night last night on top of the slow night tonight ought to have me primed for debauchery the next few nights.

Elevator etiquette has been poor on this cruise, for sure worse than others we’ve been on. I think they need to add an elevator etiquette section to the muster videos.

I don’t let it bother me but my wife gets miffed and it feels like she’s mad at me for not being mad. I’m never in a big hurry to be honest.

Whew, early morning.

With the 7am call and our non-NCL excursion being a 30 minute ride, we wanted to get off asap this morning to maximize our time at Maya Chan. That meant a 5:15 alarm so we had time for morning bathroom rituals, breakfast, etc etc etc.  We also lost an hour last night with ship time changing.

Looking out the balcony window earlier and feeling the ship sway, it’s pretty sporty out there!

Looking out now, I see the pilot boat along with land, and we’re moving backwards so it feels like we’re approaching.

Let’s hope for the best!

Pray for me as I wake the kids and wife up!

We are getting closer inch by inch. Now that I stepped out, it’s definitely sporty out there!  If we are able to dock, I hope we have a good spot tucked from the wind today at Maya Chan!

We made it to Maya Chan. They gave us a quick bit of info and showed us to our areas. They immediately brought welcome

drinks and chips and guacamole. It feels like it will be very peaceful!

The wifi is very fast as well.

I have read and heard only outstanding things about Maya Chan!

We were booked there for a sailing we were supposed to take in January, 2022 on Joy.

Unfortunately that cruise was cancelled and we received a refund from the very friendly folks at Maya Chan. We will try again at some point in the future.

Have an awesome day!!
