Sapphire cruisers in Retreat/Michael's

Recommended Posts

On a recent cruise, a Sapphire cruiser was refused access to the lounge because they were not in a suite.

Is this a continuation of the COVID policy? The benefits chart on the Celebrity website indicates Sapphire and above receive lounge access.

Do any Blue Chip Club members receive access to the lounge if not in a suite?

When we sailed Ascent we did not get lounge access. I am also sapphire. Honestly, when they say lounge access, I didn’t think it meant Retreat lounge. I’m not sure what lounge I thought it was referring. I guess I should have asked the casino host. The list of perks also mentions a free digital photo package but when I went to the photo lounge to inquire, they looked shocked and dumbfounded at my request.

On our upcoming Alaska cruise I plan to travel with a print out of the perks.

The small print in the benefits terms and conditions seems pretty clear:

VIP Lounge Access is granted to Michael’s Club and/or Retreat Lounge wherever applicable.

Keep in Mind that this might be from the last change of Celebrity several years ago.   When they re-alligned the levels I became sapphire and was receiving $1000 per cruise to gamble with.....Within 1 year they divided the Sapphire category to "Sapphire and Sapphire plus".....and I was only receiving $500 per cruise.  I have looked at the charts and they do say VIP lounge access so I would have brought it to the front desk to clarify if it was important.... Good luck to all!

So….if you are Sapphire you should be granted access to the lounge. I will test this out on my next non suite cruise to see if I can access the retreat. Honestly there has been so many changes with Blue Chip Club in the past 6 months it makes your head spin. These changes have NOT been for the better, my play has not changed and now am only getting veranda cruises with no perks. I used to get Aqua Class with all the perks and the occasional Sky Suite.

confused..So Sapphire  is a gambling level status not post Diamond Plus..cruise points.

size of lounges and venues do not increase but seems new people with some status are added every day.

We stopped attending E plus " exclusive" events.. too crowded!

the ability to get status access to lounges without actually sailing/staying /flying is what killed airport lounges   Crowded - assuming that you can actually get in anymore.

Good point. I was not aware that Sapphire levels used to get $1000 in free chip play, like there are cuts everywhere.
