phuac Posted May 2 #1 Share Posted May 2 First time booking Princess in a while. Sailed with other companies more so than Princess. I'm finding that Princess has the most unclear and confusing payment process. It's all coming in my favor, so can't complain about that, but then I worry that I step on board and then hit with new charges, or maybe my reservation is cancelled because of a missed payment. Issue #1: Booking. There was an odd reduction in the fare. Before checkout said the cruise fare was $5000. After checkout and putting the deposit.. the fare was $4000 (not net of deposit). Great surprise. Called Princess to confirm the reservation and prices... they said, everything is fine. So, great, worked in my favor. Appreciate the discount without knowing. Just super odd that the overall fare was changed after paying the deposit. Issue #2: So I add in Premier after the fact. Should be $1120. $80 times 7 days times 2 people. I get charged like $800. Checked travel summary.. all the Premier items are listed. Called Princess, as I'm worried that I would get with the remainder later.. they said everything is fine. I don't owe anymore.. Not sure why they charged me lower. Issue #3: Now, I'm about to make full payment. I looked and instead of paying the remaining amount... they subtracted the $800 I paid for premier from what I owe to pay off the cruise. Now I'm super worried because this feels like an underpayment. If I pay off the remainder based on what they say I owe which is $800 less, then I worry that later on they will cancel my reservation saying that I didn't pay in full. Issue #4: I add in specialty dining for 4 people, and my charge is zero. Should be charged for 2 people. This is probably a dream for many people here, that this is all working in my favor.. but I'm super worried that this is all an issue with Princess and I may end up getting this cruise cancelled inadvertently or getting charged later on for all of these strange billing amounts. Anyone seen this happen before?
dog Posted May 2 #2 Share Posted May 2 I’ve booked, after pricing a casino discount reduced my fare. Didn’t know I had that offer. You can cancel and get a TA to book for you.
Treasure Hunter Posted May 2 #3 Share Posted May 2 I think with Premiere package you get two free specialty dinners. I understand your unease. Just keep checking

When you book online for people without the specialty dining credit they use the credits from the people that do. Since 2 of you had 2 credits each they used all 4 that you had so you haven’t any more. The 2 people who didn’t have the credit owe you a dinner. 😂. You probably can work it out on board, but you won’t be able to book any more specialty dining pre cruise for free. ldubs Posted May 2 #5 Share Posted May 2 Yikes, I would also be a little wary. It has never happened to us in the way you describe. I think it is good of you to double check. Especially if they are not offering an explanation. Whatever happens, enjoy!

Thanks for the info, really helpful! Puts me at ease for this one.
phuac Posted May 3 Author #7 Share Posted May 3 Interesting update. Issue #3 has been fixed. Apparently some backend system wasn't talking to each other correctly. I guess when I purchased the Premier Package on the App, that info didn't get passed on to update the cruise fare, so it was registered as a payment to the original cruise fare. I don't know, whatever the agent said just seemed like technical mumbo jumbo. Anyway, fare is updated properly so I can pay the actual amount due, not something lower and risk the reservation to be cancelled. Anyway, glad this is fixed. Can totally see why there are threads here telling people to check their folios and other things. Princess doesn't seem to have some good back end systems. Premier package is still fine on my account according to the agent. Still don't know why it is much lower than it should be.. but I'll take it.
