jerseymariner Posted May 9 #1 Share Posted May 9 Does anyone know which airport NCL Air flies into from the USA? We have flights as part of our booking for departure from Trieste but don’t yet have details about if we arrive at Marco Pollo or Trieste airport. CruiserBruce Posted May 9 #2 Share Posted May 9 Whichever airport they can get the most advantageous (to them) air fares. What they have done in the past is not predictive of what they will do in the future. Its all about what air fares they can get at the time.
klfrodo Posted May 9 #3 Share Posted May 9 Most likely Marco Polo. 98% sure. 2% remaining for disclaimer
MedCruise_2022 Posted May 13 #4 Share Posted May 13 (edited) Coming from DFW, NCL Air Choice (New Program)* has gotten us outbound flight to Venice Marco Polo Airport (DFW-VCE) for our Cruise on Norwegian Dawn in October 2024, starting/embarking from Trieste. * We received an email offering us flight itinerary--more desirable flights 6 months out, with one connection, but with additional cost Edited May 13 by MedCruise_2022
waterbug123 Posted May 14 #5 Share Posted May 14 To my knowledge, Trieste does not have an international airport, meaning an airport that accommodates transcontinental flights. If you are on a nonstop from the US, you would almost certainly be flying into VCE and the cruise line would likely arrange a transfer. If you have a connection within Europe though, it's possible you would fly into either VCE or Trieste.
Rare Hlitner Posted May 20 #6 Share Posted May 20 Given a choice between Trieste (just at that airport on May 1) and Venice (VCE) we would choose Trieste...every time. Marco Polo has long been one of our least favorite airports in Europe and the world. Folks beginning or ending a cruise at Trieste might also consider that Trieste's small airport is much closer to the port then the long transfer to Marco Polo. The main advantage of Marco Polo is that there are some direct flights to North America. But, if one must change somewhere in the EU than you might want to look for a Trieste option. As to cruise-air (NCL and other lines) we do always do comparison shopping. But no way would we simply book cruise-air where the cruise line chooses the flights. This can get you some awful (if not impossible) connections and less than ideal flights. Hank
