daveo6313 Posted May 9 #1 Share Posted May 9 I have a few cruises coming up that are booked with a casino rate code. Has anyone been able to get the stock share holder OBC when booked with one of these rates?
Frank12 Posted May 9 #2 Share Posted May 9 It really depends on who reviews it I think. In the past few months I've had it applied successfully twice and denied once with a casino rate. Prior to that I never had it denied no matter what rate I booked at. Give it a shot. It never hurts to ask!😜
forevercruiserforlife Posted May 9 #3 Share Posted May 9 As long as it's not a free room, you can get the shareholder benefit, on a casino code. Tuesday I applied for a btb, one cabin free, and the other casino discount. I got denied for the free cabin, and approved for the casino discounted cabin.
hockeyluver Posted May 9 #4 Share Posted May 9 We book casino rates all the time and still get our stockholder benefits.
lostsoulcruiser Posted May 9 #5 Share Posted May 9 This benefit is available to shareholders holding a minimum of 100 shares of Carnival Corporation or Carnival plc. Employees, travel agents cruising at travel agent rates or interline rates, tour conductors or anyone else cruising at a reduced-rate or on complimentary basis are excluded from this offer. The above is from the Carnival Corp website under the Shareholder Benefit tab. I guess the answer is who reviews the benefit request and the code on your cruise fare. Try submitting, worse case is a denial.
Mike45LC Posted May 9 #6 Share Posted May 9 I've been denied three times, and approved twice. So 40% approval rate. The discounts were worth giving up the stockholder's OBC!
Petersonfcu Posted May 9 #7 Share Posted May 9 I have used multiple "free oceanview" offers. I have always been denied the benefit when booking an oceanview cabin. However, Carnival lets you take the "free oceanview" and upgrade it to a balcony for a (usually reasonable) payment. I have sailed in the upgrade twice. I was given the shareholder benefit once when I applied, and denied on the second sailing. It all seems pretty random.

Hoosierpop Posted May 10 #9 Share Posted May 10 I get cheap, not usually free, cabins. Like, $100. I try for the credit every time. And I’m denied every time. But it’s an email so I’ll keep trying.

salty dingo Posted May 10 #11 Share Posted May 10 If your cruise is in 2024, you may have some luck. Unfortunately they have not yet renewed the shareholder benefit for 2025.

When I submitted my requests last year for this years cruises, I emailed. Maybe that was wrong. But it has been a couple of years since I have gotten the credit and every time, the denial has been because of my casino rate. But if I have been submitting it wrong, that could be an issue. figmentdj Posted May 10 #13 Share Posted May 10 I tried the email just now and got this: Carnival Corporation has engaged Stockperks to implement a more automated and streamlined process for the processing of shareholder benefits. During the ongoing transition phase, shareholders may be redirected to Stockperks to engage with our updated redemption process. Full details of how to submit your shareholder benefit claim can be found here: https://www.carnivalcorp.com/shareholder-information/shareholder-benefit. To bring it back to the OP...I have a casino rate and was denied through Stockperks..YMMV
eas2225 Posted May 11 #14 Share Posted May 11 Just got off the Venezia on April 26th. It was a free balcony from the casino. I applied for the stockholder benefit a month or two before sailing and was denied. Waited a week or two and resubmitted, only to be denied again. Not sure if I'll try again on another cruise. I booked cruises with the free ocean view room but I upgraded to a balcony so the OBC is less than the cost of the cruise. I am hoping that will enable me to get the credit. Thanks to all of you who have replied. Dave Edited May 11 by daveo6313

Thanks to all of you who have replied. Dave Yes, all of the many "free" casino room offers I have require you to put down $100 per person as a deposit and than you get the deposit back as on board credit. And I have upgraded my "free" oceanview offer twice to a balcony cabin and applied for the shareholder benefit on both. The first time, awhile ago, I did receive the shareholder benefit. On my more recent "balcony upgrade" cruise, however, I was denied the benefit. Let us know what happens with your more recent application.
