It all sounds good until you do the win/spend figure, the break even figure....so you put in the machine maybe $500 maybe more just to get $90 back and some points? It doesn't make sense to those of us who have to sacrifice the cruise fund and then play for 3 hrs and lose every penny........like me.....😥 Show me the extrapolation of what cruises you "won" with fares compared with all the money you've gambled..then we'll see. I've looked at all the material/pamphlets etc and the real money is just not worth it to lose outa my pocket. I sure had fun though at the magic drums bandit. But I only earned 79 pts or something and it disappeared along with my initial $250 in the machine at the end of March. It's all about money cycled through. Nothing to do with wins and losses. We left this cruise with $90 more than we went with. We would gamble regardless of the casino program.

That is why it is called gambling, not winning. 😄 I doubt if I will ever have enough points for comped cruises. I won $1000 on a Navigator cruise, texted DH, cashed out, and he already had the safe open by the time I was back up to the cabin. I am still playing on that money, on multiple cruises. ☺️
Coralc Posted June 1 #178 Share Posted June 1 And seriously, I did just receive a Royal Caribbean casino offer today. 😄 Lucky you, you just hit the jackpot! Casino RoyaleSM invites you to set sail on an award-winning ship and get your next payout in paradise. Enjoy $25 OFF your next cruise plus $25 FREEPLAY to use on all your favorite games onboard. Your exclusive offer can be applied to any sailing departing by December 31, 2024 and is combinable with the current Royal Caribbean® sale — so what are you waiting for? But I don't think $50 is enough to entice me to spend several thousand on a cruise right now. LOL. 🙄

The last sentence made me giggle though... "so what are you waiting for" lol. I didn't get this "offer" so not sure what the demographic was. The one I got earlier this week was more full comps that we unfortunately can't use, stupid work.

It gets in the way of doing things and without it you can't afford to do things.🤷♂️ 2

LOL. 🙄 Well some have told me you just have to look at spending your limit as purchasing another cruise...nothing is really free except if you win an amount like you did or if you end up with $90 more than you came with, but that doesn't get you free cruises, you have to count all the $$ you put in. And we only cruise 2 times a year and I "may" elect to put $100 or more into a bandit fully realizing I will most likely lose it all, so how can I accumulate enough points? For us it may not be worth it except for the fun. It was really fun! So just count it as entertainment right. We'd have to invest a lot more money and cruise more to really get enough for the offers, right?

It was way too loud there for us. You could hear noise from the water slides (I loved the water slides and rode all 6 slides multiple times), the Flowrider and the mini golf course. A few days later we thought we would try it again, but there was a DJ there and it was like a party there (nothing like the Solarium on other ships). There literally is no area to get away from kids, which makes sense because they are part of the targeted demographics for Icon. On the bright side, the 1400 Lobby Bar is probably my favorite RCI bar now. During our 7 day cruise, we spent a lot of time there every day/night. What about Overlook? Kind of a souped up Solarium, only w/out a pool...

I think you know this already, but just to reiterate, the overwhelming majority of people who get comped cruises thru the casino lose a significant amount of money most cruises. Every cruise there will always be people who win money, but they are a small percentage of the people gambling. The casino program would not exist if the majority of players were actually winning in the casino. My view of the casino is I gamble to have fun, but I always have a limit I will not go over on a cruise. One of the worst things you can do is start chasing points in the casino trying to reach a certain amount of points. That is a good way to lose money fast.
