Are Spa Rooms Worth It?

My wife and I use the spa quite frequently and we were curious if it's worth reserving a Spa Cabin?

 

Also, do they provide discounted rooms for frequent users of the spa?

When I cruise with my son he loves the saunas, so we book a spa cabin.  So for us it is worth it.

On all the ships I've been on, the saunas are free to access - you don't need a spa pass or a spa cabin.

https://help.carnival.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/1167/~/cloud-9-spa discusses the benefits of booking a spa cabin - only you can decide if it's worth the money for you.

 

I have never heard of the spa offering comps or discounted fares like the casino does for example. I don't think that's a thing.

The plain Jane sauna is free, but the fancy ones (microwave, rainforest, and high heat with a view as my son calls them) you need to buy a day pass or book a spa cabin to use.

You can also book a cruise length spa pass. Compare the cabin price between a regular cabin and a spa cabin, If the difference is cheaper than buying a cruise length pass, then book the spa cabin.

 

Cruise length spa pass comes in handy if only one person in the cabin wants to use the spa, too.

We feel it is worth it on the ships that have the thalassotherapy pools which are only available on Carnival Breeze ^®, Carnival Dream ^®, Carnival Luminosa ^™, Carnival Magic ^® and Carnival Splendor ^®;

We are driving 6 hours instead of one to board the Breeze to be on a ship with the Cloud 9 spa. When we booked the spa cabin was less than regular cabin with 2 full length passes. We are doing a B2B for 9 days total so this may be why spa for both came out cheaper. We love the thalassotherapy pool and heated tiles.

As someone who doesn’t even use the spa? I always book a spa cabin because of the location, they are always fabulous. Best views off the boat and best location!

Wow, I'm from California and Carnival primarily goes out of Long Beach. The only ships I've experienced is Panorama, has a nice whirlpool, but no thalassotherapy, Radiance, and we are soon to ship Firenze. 

 

I did experience the thalassotherapy pool on the Princess Discovery and was hoping for more. Oh well.

We always book a Spa Balcony on a Dream class.  They have the best thermal suite.   The thalassotherapy pool is worth the price.

One of our reasons as well. We use the Spa minimally but enjoy the location. Husband appreciates the proximity of the Gym. Also one or both of us use the Spa showers as opposed to shower in Cabin, throw on a robe and off we go, very convenient.

Yes! We frequently do the same, as that class definitely did spa right.  Have our first spa cabin on Mardi Gras in a couple weeks (first time for a cove balcony as well) - not sure it was a great choice but DH only has to walk a couple cabins to get his sauna, so there's that.

I looked at the "upgrade" cost from a regular cabin to a spa cabin and chose to upgrade. It was less than booking a spa pass separately per person. This was on the Radiance, which doesn't have the thalassotherapy pool; but we loved the location, and found the spa worth it for the upgrade price. If you are a frequent user anyway, it'd be worth it for the proximity alone. Also, because they're spa cabins you're likely to have less kids running around the hallways.

Definitely sounds like a winner. We were one the Panorama and they don't have the thalassotherapy pool, but have, I guess it's referred to as, a small therapy pool, but I still enjoyed it.
