sixpackeddie Posted June 13 #1 Share Posted June 13 I noticed when checking availability on an upcoming cruise we are interested in the age of a child fare is now for 12 and under. When we booked many cruises in the recent past our daughter who is now 14 always had a child's fare as it was a child was classified as 0-17 years old. Are we paying more now for our 14 year old daughter since she is now classified as a adult?
canderson Posted June 13 #2 Share Posted June 13 Just do a mock booking for your specific cruise with your daughter as alternately adult and child and check the total.

Unless there is kids sail free promo the rate for 3/4 guests is the same regardless of whether they are 1 or 70. The 12 YO bracket is listed because KSF applies to kids 12 and under Edited June 13 by Ourusualbeach
leaveitallbehind Posted June 13 #4 Share Posted June 13 (edited) Just to add to the correct information provided by @Ourusualbeach, other than with promotions as mentioned, the age identification with the reservation process is for booking confirmation and manifest purposes only to have a correct listing of all passengers sailing. Thank you, did that. Total was the same.
Rare mkkao924 Posted June 13 #6 Share Posted June 13 Could the pricing for shore excursion / specialty dining be different?

Not sure I understand the question relative to the thread title. But excursions and specialty dining rates are priced individually per the planner for each cruise relative to adult v child pricing. This has no relation to base cruise fare pricing. Edited June 13 by leaveitallbehind
miched Posted June 14 #8 Share Posted June 14 I think that you are supposed to use the age of the person at the time they will be sailing and not at the time of booking. If there is a different in cost it will probably be caught somewhere in the system. Happy cruising 🌊🚢🇺🇸🌅

If there is a different in cost it will probably be caught somewhere in the system. Your birthdate is what is entered on the reservation at the time of booking. Age at the time of sailing as calculated based on that. But as mentioned previously, other than with a specific promotion such as kids sail free (which in our experience has always been 12 and under), the 3rd and 4th passenger fares are not age based, but are fixed fares based on a given sailing. So unless a promo such as that is in place there will be no difference in fare for the 3rd or 4th passengers based on age.
