Ship at Maximum Capacity

Recommended Posts

Sailing on Liberty out of New Orleans on July 14th.  I tried to add a person to a balcony cabin that currently only has 1 person staying in it and I was denied.   Was told the ship was at maximum capacity and even though there was room in the cabin, there wasn't room on the ship!!!   Anyone experience this before??

100% capacity is based upon two per stateroom. Ships can safely sail with over 100% capacity, but there is a limit.  Many staterooms can accommodate 3 or more. So if a lot of staterooms have 3 or 4, the ship can be full even with only 1 in your room.

Keep trying. Maybe up to the last minute. There are always no shows.

I think it would be to late to add a passenger on boarding day.

These days, in general, in the US, probably true. It depends on the deadline for the ship to turn in a passenger manifest. But the day before should still be possible, if the cruise line allows.

The ship is only required to turn in the passenger manifest 60 minutes prior to departure.

So then same day bookings are still possible.

Theoretically.  The closest I've heard about is RCI, I believe, that allows bookings the afternoon before.  Has to be done by phone, not online, and most certainly not at the port, despite what some think.

I booked a cruise in May at 7 pm that boarded the next morning. I got home from work. Threw all my stuff together in two hours, went to bed, woke up and headed to the port. 😆
