Love your title, fits all the lands you will be visiting ,clever. I’ll be following along on your live cruise journey. And don’t worry about not having heels. Heels are not required for formal nights. Just wear whatever “non trip “ shoes & outfit you’ve got packed to the dining room on formal nights, you should be fine. I am totally impressed that you have carry-on for your cruise and for 7 weeks at that. I’m sure you already know that there are self run laundry facilities on most decks of Princess cruises and you can take your own soap with you or you can purchase it in the laundry room. Most of the laundry rooms have a fee to wash and dry. Enjoy your summer vacation. We have never seen free laundry.

Yes, I paid a solo supplement on Princess. I was in a terrible car accident in 2017 (I was hit from behind while stopped at a red light and was not at all at fault) and finally decided to use the settlement money. At the advice of everyone I know who cruises Princess, I have Princess Plus. I am looking forward to all the perks, especially the two desserts. At first I thought it was two fancy desserts for the whole cruise then I found out it was two desserts per day! I have stretchy pants in three different sizes: the smallest ones did not get packed! When I first booked this cruise I needed to create a profile with Princess. I mistakenly scrolled too far and entered the incorrect birth year. I couldn’t change this and my travel agent couldn’t change this so I had my first phone call with Princess. Let me tell you, it was a doozy. The woman yelled at me and I kept telling her to be nice since I was a customer. She couldn’t fix the issue and I asked her to transfer me to someone else. The someone else was incredibly knowledgeable and efficient and fixed the incorrect birthday immediately. She also helped me reset my login and password. I mentioned to her that the first agent had not been kind. 30 minutes later I received a phone call from a supervisor at Princess. She said she had listened to the recording of the phone call with the first agent and was horrified with how the agent had conducted herself. The supervisor apologized and said this is not the standard they expect from their agents. She then said as a gesture of good will she would like to offer me a free specialty dining meal and she suggested Crown Grill. I mentioned that I’m a vegetarian so she countered with Sabatini’s. What are your favourite items at Sabatini’s? I have not yet booked this restaurant because how do I know this far in advance which night I want spaghetti?? My daughter does not eat meat, although she eats seafood and was able to enjoy dinner in the Crown Grill.

If you are interested in sailing again within the next 12 months then purchase a future cruise deposit for $100 which will also get you some onboard credit. It is refundable if not used. It can be purchased on the app while onboard the ship. BTW, the onboard credit for purchasing the future cruise deposit, is applied to the cruise that follows (not the one that you're on). And no matter what deposit they are asking for, your $100 deposit is sufficient.

But I have actually heard a few folks say they didn't have to use tokens in the machine. I guess that's why I saw "free" not "fee". 1

Rare YVRteacher Posted July 15 Author #759 Share Posted July 15 Back to Nuuk. After my neighbourhood walk during which I noticed Svend Sværd had had a delivery of firewood (there aren’t any trees here so I wonder which country provides the wood) I headed downhill toward the ocean. That was heaven! The rocks were so pretty I wanted to bring them all home! (Don’t worry: I took photos instead.) I was hoping to find a piece of beach glass but there wasn’t any.
Rare YVRteacher Posted July 15 Author #760 Share Posted July 15 Uphill, downhill, uphill, downhill and now uphill again to visit the church I had to tell a lady from the cruise ship to get off the steps so people could take a photo without her in it. She seemed shocked that we all wouldn’t want her front and centre. If you want to get to heaven and have previously been refused, the gates are open here 7

Rare YVRteacher Posted July 15 Author #763 Share Posted July 15 Thank goodness for signs A few shops were open by now My favourite was the glass maker’s studio Did you know every town in Iceland has a rainbow sidewalk, street or staircase? I don’t know about every town in Greenland, but Nuuk does.
bob&france Posted July 15 #764 Share Posted July 15 Really enjoying this thread…pictures are great. If I could ask I little question: I’ve noticed in the daily’s that the Bayou Cafe and steakhouse converts to either the Crab Shack or Salty Dog for lunch and also noticed that you posted a pic of an Alfredo’s menu with a $14.99 cover…..so my question is are these 3 options part of the Princess Plus casual dining options ? thanks, Bob
Rare YVRteacher Posted July 15 Author #765 Share Posted July 15 At the tourist information center, Tupilak, which is also the place for the most diverse selection of souvenirs and Greenlandic-made products, I saw a husband and wife make a small purchase. They cooperatively selected an ornament and were terribly excited for their purchase. When they exited, they stood outside and the husband exclaimed, “now we celebrate! One candy each!” They had bought a bag of sweets at the supermarket. I love their celebration, but if someone tried to ration my candy there would be no more bon bons for them! The largest supermarket in Nuuk is Pisiffic. It was beautiful, well stocked and had plenty of fresh fruit and veggies. I have cruised throughout the north many times and this supermarket surprised me with the quantity and quality of produce. They also have a bakery And birthday cake in a can!? I checked out the tower of chips And passed on the pizza!

Rare YVRteacher Posted July 15 Author #767 Share Posted July 15 Since I had already walked through town I decided I would just keep on walking back to the ship. In retrospect, I wish I hadn’t purchased the shuttle and had just walked into town. This is the shuttle drop off and pick up location Washrooms are available in Nuuk Centre (shopping mall kitty corner from the shuttle drop off) and there are washrooms at the cruise terminal. I smiled at this! There were also facilities down at the waterfront. An ATM is available is the mall

Rare YVRteacher Posted July 15 Author #770 Share Posted July 15 I had a few minutes to enjoy a hot bowl of asparagus soup and to add another layer of clothing before heading out for my late afternoon excursion. I didn’t have time to take photos in Horizon Court but as expected and delivered, everything looked amazing. It was British lunch and they even had a vegetarian Shepherd’s pie. I just needed to warm up and was hyper-focused on finding some soup. Something I appreciate about Princess is the ingredients are clearly labeled on each item in the buffet so I never have to ask if something is vegetarian. With the soups, the type of broth (vegetarian, chicken, beef etc.) is always indicated. NCL used to use a green line for vegetarian and red line for non-vegetarian but this has stopped and it was never consistent. 10

Rare YVRteacher Posted July 15 Author #773 Share Posted July 15 Come with me on a two hour tour into Nuuk Kangerlua (Nuuk fjord) on a tiny double-hulled wooden boat built for ice. We are 8 passengers (from Mexico City, California and Vancouver) a captain and a guide. I didn’t take a photo of our boat but this one is similar in size If you find yourself on a little boat in Nuuk and are much larger than a hobbit, the washroom will be off limits. The door didn’t close fully as we discovered when the little boy on board became obsessed with using the boat’s head. Having just walked this neighbourhood, I loved seeing it from the outside looking in instead of the inside looking out. As we left the harbour the captain asked us what we wanted to see. Most people said whales. I said icebergs and walrus. Captain laughed and said the last time he saw a walrus in Greenland was 10 years ago. No walrus today but we did see icebergs right away. I really wanted to slow down and take photos and our guide said later, later.
NikiPinkston Posted July 15 #774 Share Posted July 15 Yvonne, I'm loving your photos and following along on this wonderful journey. We're jumping ship from NCL due to some disappointments so our next cruise will be on Princess. (We actually had a Princess trans-Pacific scheduled but had to cancel as DH is going through some medical issues right now. He will be okay, but our next cruise is just postponed for a bit.) I'm so enjoying all of your food and drink pics and your impressions of the entertainment. You make me feel like I'm right there with you. Greenland looks incredible! Thank your for including us! You are the best.
