Rare YVRteacher Posted July 20 Author #1026 Share Posted July 20 Here we are on the outskirts of town I have two favourite stores in Seydisfjordur. This is the first. A new flavour of Omnom!

Lots of books to choose from? Yes, it’s a very good library. People leave excellent books in the take a book, leave a book section. Also, I just organized it today so it is in good shape. My librarian heart couldn’t resist. 16 2

BabySarge Posted July 20 #1029 Share Posted July 20 Once again, late to the party with my remarks and reading but life keeps interrupting my coffee, bonbon, and reading time. At any rate, despite having that free laundry perk I prefer to do our laundry and take it down in one of our suitcases with the wheels, along with my Kindle and a bottle of water. If the laundry room doesn't have a chair and space available, I take our folding camp chair that we have started bringing since they took the extra chair out of the balcony and below cabins. If no room and no chair, then I find the least intrusive space in the hallway and claim a bit of carpet to read whilst the wash is doing its thing. Once the clothes go in the dryer, I like to keep a close eye on them as the settings can sometimes simply be suggestions and the actual temperature a lot hotter than wanted. Laundry room wars are real - while on the 2023 WC two couples were removed from the ship in Australia because of fighting in the laundry room and not allowed to rejoin the cruise. Foolish!

Glad to hear that it's a pretty good library. I recently won a paperback book from our town library's "Bingo for Books", and will plan on taking that book and leaving it behind on the Island-P. I definitely will need another book halfway through my trip! 4
Rare YVRteacher Posted July 20 Author #1031 Share Posted July 20 What comes after first favourite shop in Seydisfjordur? Other favourite shop in Seydisfjordur! I bought a watercolour painting that will hopefully go on a newly constructed wall in my living room which is being rebuilt while I am away.🤞🏼 14

Rare YVRteacher Posted July 20 Author #1034 Share Posted July 20 To get to the town centre you cross a bridge and arrive at the grocery store where you can buy treats for your favourite mixologist at Good Spirits bar. Here is the entire produce section and this is a huge improvement from the selection last year If you don’t want a permanent tattoo in Iceland the grocery store has a sale on temporary ones 8
Rare YVRteacher Posted July 20 Author #1035 Share Posted July 20 (edited) I mentioned earlier that every town in Iceland has a rainbow street, crosswalk or stairway. I am partial to the one in Seydisfjordur. Today there was a music festival and this area was blocked off. I took this photo of a poster and kept walking through town, starting with the pond and the same family of ducks Friends I met on this cruise had breakfast in town. Two egg sandwiches cost $50US. Rare YVRteacher Posted July 20 Author #1039 Share Posted July 20 Large ships need to anchor in the fjord so this was a water shuttle port. I didn’t have any waits or line ups for the tenders today. Back on board I headed up to deck 14 for a little slice of pizza and some final photos. i loved every second ashore and came back with rosy cheeks and a full heart.

Foolish! This is why we always set our timer for a bit less time than the actual wash or dry time so we can get back to the laundry room well before the machine shuts off. We don't want to run into one of the crazies who freaks out because you are "hogging" the machine with laundry that is finished nor do we want to find that someone has removed our clothing so they can use the machine.

Rare YVRteacher Posted July 21 Author #1044 Share Posted July 21 Tonight’s entertainer was, sadly, not excellent. He told stories about famous people he met in the music industry and absolutely butchered their songs. Has anyone seen Ric Steel? I heard him in the buffet yesterday going on and on and on about how great he is but he did not live up to his own hype. The sunset, on the other hand, was spectacular. These photos were taken from the top secret back balcony on deck 8. You walk toward the stern and open the door and there are chairs, nice people and great view of the wake.

After watching the Barbie movie in the cabin I headed up to The Grill for cheesy fries. I have had a hankering for cheesy fries all day. It was too cold to be outside so I checked out Horizon Court. It was here that I made a little magic of my own when I discovered the theme was European and the action station was fondue. You bet I got a bowl of the cheese dipping part of the fondue and added in the best french fries at sea!

No need to worry about extreme formality I often have a conversation with my husband that goes like this: "You can't wear those socks with those pants." His reply is always, "No one looks at my feet.". Thanks for proving me right Yvonne! 1
arizonaperson Posted July 21 #1050 Share Posted July 21 Absolutely gorgeous photos in Seydisfjordur. Looks like a magical day of exploring. The sunset pictures beautiful as well. Yikes on the breakfast sandwich prices for the fellow cruise passengers.
