Rare cr8tiv1 Posted July 13 #26 Share Posted July 13 Thank you for the lovely photos. It has been a really long time since I visited London. Nice to walk along with you (love free walking tours). So sorry your transfer was a combination of fails. The other live poster said his went very smoothly. On 7/12/2024 at 3:31 AM, PATRLR said: We're on this trip with you. Rare jaycruising Posted July 13 Author #27 Share Posted July 13 I was super thankful that we made it on to the ship right around 1pm as I love embarkation day lunch in the MDR Had the salmon today and it was as delicious as usual, glad I didn’t get a starter since they gave me 2 pieces. I did have the soufflé for dessert but I was too excited to eat it I forgot the picture. After we finished lunch we headed to our cabin to ditch our backpacks, we are in a standard balcony cabin. The size is similar to the others we have stayed in but the bathroom is definitely smaller! So is the balcony! They were filling us up for our journey Our steward left our excursion tickets and some info regarding our platinum perks Along with what would be served in the buffet for the week, I like that they are doing this. There were also 4 other ships in port with us today, 2 from P&O, one MSC and I think the other was Crystal
Rare jaycruising Posted July 13 Author #28 Share Posted July 13 After we dumped our bags DM headed down to guest services to get her replacement medallion, I made my way down a bit later as I knew it would take a while. Grabbed a photo of the officers on my way. Once she was sorted we toured the spa… the sure push the upsell there. We did decide to go ahead with a pass to the thermal spa for the week, it cost us $149 each. Then we toured around the ship some more as we haven’t been on this class in many years so not sure where everything is. And found some interesting things to take photos of Need a car? This boat is so full of people We sailed away pretty much right on time, we just enjoyed it from our own balcony, while I unpacked (was so looking forward to that) I love a wake view I also appreciate that they have these in the elevators and throughout the ship to help you find your way! Rare jaycruising Posted July 13 Author #29 Share Posted July 13 We had a 6pm reservation in Estrella dining room tonight, we always share a table and had virtually no wait to be seated. We did have a very long wait for our drinks… I think they may have been making the wine! I had a starter portion of the risotto, glad I didn’t have it as my main, it was ok, but a little bland. For my main I had the steak and sorry forgot to take a picture again, but I will say that cauliflower mash was amazing! For dessert one of the ladies at the table had arranged a cake for her husband and insisted we all have some, so I had a bit, it was coconut and quite good. Also the head waiter in that dining room can sing! But, they had lemon meringue cheesecake tonight and that is another favourite so I had to get that too! For someone who never has dessert at home I sure am making up for it! (Not sure why this is underlined?!?!) After dinner we went to deck 7 and got DM a new bracelet for her medallion and then headed outside for more aft views Then we needed to make use of our Thermal spa package so we headed down there, it was packed when we got there and empty later on I decided I wanted to walk some more and try and work off some of the dessert did a coup,e laps on the jogging track Here is the new format patter for today! Calling it a night now and looking forward to our first full sea day tomorrow!

Rare jaycruising Posted July 14 Author #33 Share Posted July 14 Sunday, July 14 - Sea Day Good Morning! Once I fell asleep I slept very well until DM’s alarm decided we needed to wake up! I got up and headed down to the gym for a workout. I am very impressed with the it, lots of equipment available, except it seemed we were all doing arms today! I ducked outside for a minute but we sure have moved into the North Atlantic Ocean I did a quick change and we went to the theatre for the port talk. Not going to lie, not one of my favourite port talks, I may have started reading my book on my phone. We did skip breakfast this morning so we decided to go to Alfredo’s for lunch. We have only been on one other ship with Alfredo’s and we loved it then… DM got the Pepperoni I got the Blanco e Nero It was so good! But, way too much for each of us and we didn’t get a starter or dessert. We did confirm and we will be able to go and just order one on our plus and share a pizza! During the noon message they let us know that we have about 10 foot swells right now, there is some movement We haven’t moved far, we came out of Alfredo’s and they are doing 70’s movie trivia in the piazza so we are participating from the balcony!
phabric Posted July 14 #34 Share Posted July 14 Enjoyed reading your review. I did this cruise May 2022 on the Sky. We had the Plus, when we went to Alfredo’s, we used 1 credit and my friend had the salad, 1 pizza and I had te dessert. Enjoy your cruise.

It is too much pizza for one person. Most people left food on their plate. We had to use our credits up so on our last causal credit at Alfredo’s, we ordered salad/soup, then shared one pizza and the veal ravioli (I think about 4 pieces) and each dessert. Rare jaycruising Posted July 14 Author #37 Share Posted July 14 I picked up this print from the shops, they have some nice souvenirs in there and have changed some of their designs Then we went and spent an hour in the thermal suite, I almost fell asleep on the heated lounger. We then decided to go to the 4:00pm performance of Rock Opera, early because of the football match. Go early, there were barely any seats about 20 minutes ahead. It was a great performance! We got all pretty for formal night and headed down to the Platinum/Elite lounge for a drink and snack. I ate a little more than I would have since I wasn’t really excited for tonight’s dinner menu. The shrimp were really good! I had the fruit and tapioca for my started DM had the crab cake and said it was very good. For my main I had Salmon and the Fettuccine, it was lacking some flavour even after I added Parmesan After dinner I had a lie down for a while and Dm headed down to watch the Strikeout game, I joined her with enough time to play the last round, it’s such a fun game and so many people participate! Then we stuck around for British Music Trivia, I’m usually quite good at music trivia but this one was tough! Time to head to the room and get some sleep as we will be in Bergen tomorrow around noon!

Rare jaycruising Posted July 15 Author #39 Share Posted July 15 Monday, July 15 - Bergen We weren’t arriving into Bergen until noon today so I thought we could have a bit of a sleep in, but DM’s alarm had other ideas and went off at 7:30 🥱 We got ready for our day and headed up to the buffet for breakfast, darn it was busy up there. Sorry personal pet peeve moment, if you are just hanging out and having a coffee and there really aren’t any seats to be found please enjoy your coffee elsewhere, if you literally just finished I totally get sitting for a bit. Breakfast was ok, but not the best thing I’ve had, I do prefer international cafe. We were starting to see some views aside from open ocean as we made our way. Cruise Director Aaron was giving a talk in the Theatre about life o. The ship, it was interesting, I always enjoy behind the scenes sneak peaks Then there was a presentation in the Vista Lounge called Norway in a Nutshell, it was ok, but not a favourite. Time to get our bags together so we could get off the ship, it was raining a bit and I had a chill so I layered up! We We’re cleared shortly after 12 to get off, so we did that and may our way out of the port. I wanted to head straight to our destination for the day, so we meandered through the streets of Bergen. Most non-descriptive McDonalds I’ve ever seen The streets are fantastic, if not a bit steep in some places Wr made it to our destination shortly before 1pm. DM swore I was walking her in circles (not on the way there but maybe a bit on the way back. I had pre booked tickets to the Florence Fenicular, they were 360 NOK ($35 US). I had seen and heard that the lines could get really long so try and arrive as early as possible. We only had about a 15 minute wait to get on, I highly recommend pre buying as the line to by tickets was separate and quite long Sorry, that’s it for tonight, we had a busy day and evening and I’m behind!!!

ColoradoMom!! Posted July 15 #41 Share Posted July 15 Loving the pictures and your review! Bergen looks great. We're thinking of doing the Funicular too - I need to look into advanced tickets! I have one sort of odd question. Can you tell me how much earlier the all aboard vs the time listed on our itinerary ? I know from experience it is usually 1/2 to 1 hour before - but I have an excursion on a RIB boat - 5 minute walk from cruise terminal - I am considering for Stravanger that ends at 3:45 for a 5:00 posted departure which is the same time as yours on the 18th. I am assuming the all aboard will be at 4 or 4:30. (It is not a princess excursion) I know you can't tell me for sure until Thursday for Stravanger, but I didn't see it on the Patter you posted for Bergen - I probably missed it. We liked the Moxy. Room was basic but decent sized (which you don't always find in England). Room had a comfortable bed, chair, TV, not much else. Breakfast buffet in the hotel is 12 GBP, basic but adequate (powdered eggs, bacon, sausage, fruits, cereals, pastries, yogurts, and I'm sure other stuff) It's right across the street from a large mall with many chain type restaurants. Walk through the mall and and you are in a city ,center area with more shops and such. Easy walks to restaurants like the Duke of Wellington. I'm sure there might be interesting sites to be found, but, we had a rather tough travel day and weren't looking to do much while there. Had we done anything, it probably would have been a trip to Salisbury/Stonehenge. We've decided next time we have a cruise that ends in Southampton, we'll do Stonehenge the morning after we disembark and arrange a sunrise visit before heading to LHR. If you are spending time in Southampton after your cruise, that might be something to consider. Edited July 16 by PATRLR

Rare jaycruising Posted July 16 Author #44 Share Posted July 16 I’m going to go back a bit in time to a few photos I took from the ship and on our way to the funicular These trucks made me think of of transformer trucks I loved these little streets, but we did avoid climbing it Here are some of the other sights we saw as we made our way through Bergen Now we will return to the top of the Fenicular. The ride up took about 7 minutes and the views are beautiful
Rare jaycruising Posted July 16 Author #45 Share Posted July 16 Turns out I’m rather crap at reading maps and thought we had headed to the troll forrest, it was not, but still beautiful I turned around when I realized I was on the path heading back to the city. found this guy taking a break on the ledge Some people were worried he was going to fall off ☺️ I had to move very quickly to get a photo of this guy without some around him
Rare jaycruising Posted July 16 Author #46 Share Posted July 16 I was very happy I insisted that we head straight to the fenicular, as after our 1.5 hours there we came out to these lines From here we walked to Bryggen, it only took us a few minutes to get there We stopped by a bakery but it was crazy in there and they didn’t have anything with brown cheese, so instead we went for ice cream I got the most ridiculous ice cream of my life It was tasty, but boy did I make a mess. DM said I was messier today than I was as a baby. The pigeons appreciated me though. We meandered through the shops. I bought a jacket and DM bought a book for the grandkids at home. It was fun to explore. I wish I wasn’t allergic or I would have gotten one of the beautiful sweaters… not sure what kind of Norwegian I am 🤷♀️ Then we started making our way back to ship… I wasn’t sure what to put in google maps, but thanks to AirTags, we got ok directions, we did end up going out of our way a bit.
Rare jaycruising Posted July 16 Author #47 Share Posted July 16 We were back on board right around 4pm, all aboard wasn’t until 7:30, but we wanted to go to the spa, as we had walked about 10km already and we had a special dinner tonight as Thursday is DM’s birthday. They brought us a glass of champagne each to start and then come with strawberries, raspberries or blueberries that yo7 can add, I picked raspberries Then it was bread and this, I’m not sure what all it was For my started I had the Seafood Tower. DM had the salmon and said it was the best she has ever had For mains we both had the steak and lobster, the steak was so tender and the lobster cooked perfectly. The butter is infused with lemon to give it an extra kick. For sides we had the puréed cauliflower, greens and truffle fries… they were fantastic For dessert I had the Dlight in the air DM had the Mozart Berry Composition, and it was ridiculous, it was huge! Seriously, multiple people could have ate that! They also gave us petite fours, We both agreed that this meal without a doubt was the best we have ever had on Princess, if you are a seafood lover you need to eat here! The cost on land would have been more then double each. We had sailed away while at dinner so we went and got some pictures as we made our way out. These people were having a campfire along the shore, we could smell it from the ship! We tried to go to the 9pm game show, but there were no seats available. That is my tip on that ship, if you really want to do something or see something show up early as seating is limited. Instead we played a game of cards on the 6th floor Then we went to the 10 pm trivia before calling it a night… I asked DM to let me sleep until 8 tomorrow morning

Rare jaycruising Posted July 18 Author #50 Share Posted July 18 Thanks to 5G cell service in Stavanger, my photos finally caught up and I can get on with posting… made me realize that the wifi on here isn’t so great as I could sync 35 photos on land in the time it took to do 6 on the ship… lessons learned, but I love sharing the photos almost more then the story
