Rare FlyerTalker Posted July 26 #4 Share Posted July 26 Since you didn't mention the airports involved, it's difficult to give specific information. (From the city pairs, one can limit down the possible carriers). The main carriers within Australia are Qantas, QantasLink, Jetstar, and Virgin Australia. One could easily look at those websites and get a good idea of baggage regulations. Also, are these to be regularly scheduled flights or charters, which changes the dynamic? Pushka Posted July 27 #5 Share Posted July 27 It will depend on the airlines you are flying with and the fares that have been ticketed. You should be fine with Qantas but may have issues with Jetstar if a cheaper fare booked. On Qantas 50ib (23 kilograms) is the maximum for Economy so be aware you are ready at the limit. 10 kilo luggage limit on usual Qantas but only 7kilo on dash 8. SteelCity Cruiser Posted July 27 #6 Share Posted July 27 We did 2 weeks in Australia in 2023 before boarding our AUS/NZ cruise and did 5 in-country flights on Quantas and Virgin. Both had fees for checked bags so we did the trip with 1 roll-aboard and 1 napsack each, doing a load of laundry essentials about 1/2 way through the trip. However, we did have 2 checked bags (one 26" one 20") as well. We flew into Sydney for 2 days then headed on the cross country adventure, returning to Sydney to overnight before boarding the cruise. Because we'd be at the same hotel in Sydney (The Sheradon) on the front and back end of our itinerary, the hotel agreed to store our 2 checked bags for the time we were traveling in-country. But, if they hadn't been willing to do that we had found a storage facility in the city that we could securely leave our 2 checked bags for the duration. I think the cost was around $80 AUS.
