The special cocktails in Room 1840 - in reality it’s the casino bar - I’ve tried 3 of them so far!  James will also “get creative” if you tell him the ingredients you like!!  Pictured is the Spicy Hibiscus Margarita, which was “interesting”!😜

Cartagena… small group walking/tapas tour through the town … very small group of 1 couple (from the ship) and me!  Our guide was Bruno and I’ll include his agency details in the pics (also bookable via Tripadvisor).  Good mix of history with short breaks for tapas/drinks!  Drinks were pink sangria, white vermouth and the local specialty coffee … I give the tour 👍👍

James and Red are our favourite bartenders onboard. We already knew red from QM2, but we had a great time getting to know James who came from Queen Victoria.

Nothing was ever too much for them, and they even did off menu requests for cocktails which was greatly appreciated (as well as great in general!).

Great people - looking forward to them being onboard for our next QA sailing as well!

and what  am I bid for the four digit code access...😄

If this is the way to go, let's hope it changes for every cruise or will '1234/1066' remain for eternity

and being slightly mean but very tongue in cheek, I think the code will have to be displayed in large letter format on the actual gate so that those who can't recall yet another code in life, will know/remember what it is!  🙃

Given the nature of Multi segment and split segment cruises I can not see the code being changed that frequently.

Rest assured you won’t have to keep track of the physical key that you need to access your room, instead you’ll have to worry about remembering a code! Maybe write it on your room key!

I haven't been aboard QA yet and wondered if the midship lifts still have the slot for grills passengers to insert their cards?

No they don't

Nor do I!

Still, it will slightly appease those who want 'security'.

I'm sure there will be 'uproar' at the thought of 'having' to remember a code. Can't please all the people all the time!

Still think the best method short of keycard entry would be to reintroduce a Grills logo on the cruise card but then that relies on crew asking to see cards and then actioning any non logos, plus  a crew member ready to turf out any non logos. Will that happen?

Only if there is another 'Joy'!

It also depends on every passenger having their keycard with them. If we leave our cabin to go somewhere together, we often don’t take two cards.

True but if solo, then the card would be with passenger and if with friends or cabin partner, one of them will hopefully have a card.

Asking for cabin numbers would help but in reality, all moot if deck crew don't have the nerve/remit to ask.

My approach would be not to mind people walking through, just so long as they don’t encroach on the facilities such as they are.

The trouble is, how then to approach the problem when the facilities (inevitably) do get used...

I wasn't bothered by the lack of a bookshop on QA until disaster struck this morning. My Kindle refused to charge! It's down to 38% and I have a long coach journey tomorrow, possibly with no reading material!

I've left it plugged in at the purser's office, in the hope that it's just my cable that's faulty, not the Kindle itself.

Oh dear me, that is a bit traumatic. Still, at least it has made you realise the need for a bookshop. 😀Let us hope the Purser’s Office cures it.
