Parking near the port

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

Hi there

Sailing out of Fort Lauderdale (Port Eveglades??) for the NYE cruise on Oasis! We will have our car but need to know where to park. We will UBER/LYFT from there to and from the ship because even though we scheduled a shuttle company last year, we were standing around for (and this is NO JOKE) over 2 hours after our cruise before the shuttle ended up NOT coming. It was a complete cluster! We ended up sharing one with another couple because they were stranded too. So, this year we are avoiding that headache and just going to uber or lyft from wherever we park.

Thanks!

There is a parking lot 50 feet from the terminal entrance that is very convenient and reasonably priced.  Terminal 18 is the pier used by RCCL for Oasis.  Do a google maps search and you will be able to see the parking lot adjacent to the building.

What we have been doing for the last few years is parking at the hotel. We then take a taxi from and to the hotel. With tip around 20 dollars each way. No waiting around.

Which hotel? Is it a secured lot?

Is there a name for the garage and, it is a secure garage?

OP says they will have their own car.  Parking at Terminal 18 is the easiest place to use.

It is an open secure lot, not a garage.  Used it more than once and it is very convenient,  Literally a 50 foot walk from the entrance to the terminal.  Once in Port Everglades follow the signs to Terminal 18 and the parking lot is right there next to the building.

We did park at the terminal but my wife is in a wheelchair now So don't want to set her out and go park. If you park at the terminal I would be there by 11 or so. We had a little delay got there around 12 and had got one of the last places in the garage on top in the open. The Best Western and Fairfield Inn we have stayed in both. Not secure parking but we have not had any problems at either They are others that allow parking also.

The parking at Port Everglades Terminal 18 is an open lot - not a garage. And it takes a while to fill as it holds quite a number of cars.

I should add that this lot is a dedicated parking facility for Terminal 18, so getting a spot should not be any problem as no other terminal shares the space.

Last year for our NYE cruise we had booked and paid for a shuttle service. Came with parking and shuttle to and from the port. The "to" was fine. The "from ship back to the car" was a COMPLETE disaster!! Shuttle never came, when we called they said their shuttles were full and if we had read the fine print, the shuttle was not guaranteed... What?!? So we (along with what seemed to be the entire cruise passengers) got uber/lyft/taxis. After waiting for, no lie, almost 2 hours, we finally got an Uber and shared with other people.

Wondering what is the BEST way to get from the ship back to our car (either hotel, airport, parking garage).

Take a regular taxi which are lined up at the port.

If you are paying high demand pricing for Uber, a regular taxi is cheaper.

Use park n fly at the port.  Pretty cheap and they have a steady stream of shuttles.  They are right outside the port gate.

That's who we used.... 😳🙄😡😞

There were no taxis lined up when we were there. It was just so strange and a such huge cluster....
