Port Everglades side by side cruises—how to fill the time

We’re doing side-by-side cruises out of Port Everglades in February. Getting off one ship then embarking on a different ship later that morning. Looking for ways to fill the time, considering we’ll have a bunch of luggage. Not sure how soon we can drop luggage off at the second ship.
 

We’d like to get on the second ship for lunch so not looking for a trip to the Everglades, for instance. I’m not sure what terminals we disembark and embark on yet.

Might not be as bad as you would expect.  Our last few cruises out of Port Everglades have started boarding earlier, than in years past.  In fact, on one Princess cruise they started boarding folks about 10:45!   In your situation we would enjoy a late breakfast, grab our carry-ons, and head up to the pool deck where we would relax in loungers with our Kindles.  Depending on your ship, you might be able to get coffee while you relax.  Once they make an announcement that everyone must be off the ship (on some ships this has been as late as (9:45) you walk off the ship, get your luggage, and find your way to the next terminal.  By that time, you will be able to drop your luggage.  With luck, you may not need to wait more than 1-2 hours.

Agree with Hank. Stay on the first ship as long as possible, and by the time you are off and to the next ship you should be able to start the check in and boarding process.

Even if you can't board right away you can typically drop off luggage early. So drop it and wait to board or grab an uber or something and go shopping or take a walk (depending on terminal there is a walgreens near by) stock up on anything you may need to replenish between cruises and then go back to board and get lunch.
