mike&elena Posted August 3 #1 Share Posted August 3 We're thinking about using the Carnival Corp stockholder benefits. The fine print says that the OBC cannot be used in the casino or for gratuities. Has anyone found this to be true? If so, how does Princess differentiate stockholder OBC from other OBC?
Sunset329 Posted August 3 #2 Share Posted August 3 We have always used the OBC we receive from the stockholder benefits in the casino.
Rare karatemom2 Posted August 3 #3 Share Posted August 3 Yes, you can use them for any shipboard charges, including casino.

I'm not sure what there is to think about. If you own the stock, get the OBC regardless of what you can use it for, which includes the casino.
skynight Posted August 3 #7 Share Posted August 3 Yes & mostly yes. Yes on daily gratuities. For those with the standard fare gratuities are posted to your accounts daily and net against any credit balance (OBC). For casino slot play you select charge to your on board account. Again the amount nets against any credit balance. For table play you ask the dealer to charge your chip purchase to your on board account, and again it will net against any credit balance. The big difference with casino play is that you must play some. You can not use the casino as an ATM. If you do not play enough, what is enough is really a question, your casino account will be locked.
Rare Rick&Jeannie Posted August 4 #8 Share Posted August 4 *Anything* that is charged to your folio onboard will be combined with any OBC that you have on record. If by chance you have any *refundable* OBC left over at the end of your cruise, depending on the amount...they will mail you a check or you *might* be able to cash out at GS before leaving the ship. I don't know what that cutoff threshold is...I've NEVER had anything left over! 😄
wallyj Posted August 5 #9 Share Posted August 5 @mike&elena, yes the official ‘fine print’ states the shareholders OBC is NOT to be used for gratuities and Casino, but currently Princess accounting has not be set up to not allow. There was talk, the Casino was going to set up separate accounting last year, but it has yet to be done. I believe NCL does not allow Casino charges to net against OBC, but so far you are able to do on Princess. This ability can change at any time.

If refundable credit was over that amount a refund check would be mailed to you.

I was on Enchanted last June and had a small amount of OBC left that was less than $25. I went to Guest Services and asked to be ‘cashed out’. The agent replied the $25 limit can vary based upon ship and they had to go back to ask supervisor if they could cash me out and it was granted. Seems nothing is consistent with Princess.
Rare trbarton Posted August 6 #13 Share Posted August 6 (edited) Last December I had a huge amount of OBC, on a cruise, & twice loaded some $ to my casino account & went to the Casino Cashier & received the money. No questions asked. Tom😀👍 Edited August 6 by trbarton

I only used the slot machine for about 5 minutes 2x & received a generous amount back at the cashiers window. As I previously said I tried it out as I didn’t know what would happened & their was no questions asked other than what size bills I would like. Since I believe the casino operations is a separate company, it worked out very well. Tom😀
