Portland Maine on Breakaway 10/1 - Fall Folige

If we rent a car and drive up to the Fryburg Fair for a couple of hours, will we see beautiful fall scenery?  Has anyone been to the Fryburg Fair?  Is this a good option?

I'm not sure when peak foliage will be this year.

Last time we cruised to the Maritimes and Quebec City is was the second week of October (4th through the 18th) and the colors had not really popped when we were there. Of course Mother Nature is going to do what she wants but it is likely that you are too early.

While no one can predict when peak foliage will be in any year, the Fryeburg area traditionally peaks around two weeks after the fair closes this week.  Haven't been to the Fair in years, but they used to have Oxen pull contests, and it was amazing to see the rolls of cash changing hands from the bets.  It's the better part of an hour and a half each way.
