Live from the Celebration 08/10/24 ABC's

It has been a while come on along and join us.  We were jones'ing for some cruising.

We usually cruise 3 to 4 times a year but have not cruised since the Mardi Gras School break cruise in February.  In the interim we have done some land trips.  This cruise is with a small group of about 30, including two of our kids and their families.

We have had some let's say interesting times with Hurricanes in the past couple of years, and this cruise would just not be the same without a little dance with the ugly beasts also.  As some of you may know we live in Florida but summer in our old home base area of CT.  

 

I had to fly home to Florida for some business and guess what, TS Debby had to get in the way.  The plan was to fly back north to join our group to fly back down to Miami (FLL) the day before the cruise.  What is it they say about the word "plan"?  Oh yeah, it is a 4 letter word.

SO Debby skirted us in SW Florida (We got bashed by IAN in September 2022, so we are a little gun shy).  We got a ton of rain 12 inches, but a sigh of relief and I gave a wave to Debby...buh bye.....wait maybe she is not done with us yet.

We had people coming from 4 airports in the northeast and Debby slowed over Georgia and the Carolina's and flights started to cancel.  Uh ohh

So as I was boarding a flight to go to CT on Wednesday mid day, my wife texts me 6 in our group already got texted their flights out of NYC were cancelled.  We went into react mode.  Save you all the gyrations, but we preemptively changed our flights from Thursday direct to Southwest, with two connections to skirt possible issues.  I thought it was overkill but got outvoted.  For us anyways, while somewhat ugly, it worked.  For the rest, the jury is still out

To make a long story boring, got to Hampton Inn and suites around 11:i5 PM.  Snooze time

So we were a day earlier than we planned.  Decide to stay in above hotel last night and transfer to hotel in Miami for Friday night...  I know ti is crazy, but we are in it for the ride now.  M0re to follow.

Oh good. I did A and C on Dream last January and missed my may cruise, so havent cruised since. Did book ABC next april, we will see if I make it to bonaire.

 

I sure wanted to feed the ostriches in curacao and missed that too in January....moved and got it together more now. Wondering if I can book to see them on my own next year, not offered by the ship. It was soooooo hot in January I cant even imagine now. Or I just wasnt feeling well, but the heat and humidity sure got to me on dream at curacao especially. 

 

I'll be interested in what you do in the ports. Gotta get myself in gear better for next time.

I don't think its crazy getting in a day earlier to avoid weather problems, I wonder how many people may not have the capability or forethought to do that and will miss the ship.

Hi Jimbo. This is your neighbor just shy of the north to you in FL.  I have a BIG favor to ask of you for your Aruba stop. My toddler grandson lost his Aruba hat that we got from him from one of the stands in Aruba for $5. Will it be too much to ask for you to pick one up and I can send you the money for it and mailing or meet you somewhere along 75. Pretty Please.
