Moxiefurball Posted September 9 #1 Share Posted September 9 Hello first time travelers to Amsterdam. Staying 3 days pre cruise. Looking at hotels, and Hotel Estherea sounds great but doesnt seem to bundle breakfast in to price although can be purchased separately, Radission Blu sounds good and central, all although both very different I like the possibility of either one for their location. I realize both are different in terms of charm, decor. Anyone have any recommendations in Amsterdam or anyone stayed at either mentioned here. CruiserBruce Posted September 9 #2 Share Posted September 9 There are many threads here on AMS hotels. The DoubleTree is great, nice location, particularly if your ship is actually docking in downtown AMS. Mövenpick is also mentioned regularly, as it is on the pier in AMS. AbsolutSki Posted September 9 #3 Share Posted September 9 Swissotel Amsterdam. Centrally located, right off the Dam Square. Grocery store close by with many packaged meals for snacks and quick bites.

I don't normally gravitate to W Hotels but the W Amsterdam is quite nice and extremely well located and is a great value when compared to a lot of options. If money is no object the Waldorf Astoria is the way to go-- stunning and wonderful hotel. The Amstel Intercontinental gets an honorable mention because its a wonderful grande dame hotel but the W and Waldorf are both better properties. Rare leck57 Posted Wednesday at 10:34 AM #5 Share Posted Wednesday at 10:34 AM We stayed at the centrally located Banks Mansion and it was fabulous. Great breakfast and an open bar in the lobby to help yourself. Essentially an all inclusive hotel, which you obviously pay for but we loved it. A number of restaurants around the corner in an open square.
