Using Medallion Pay in California Ports

Princess used to have a promo where you get 7% back as OBC if you use your Medallion to pay for purchases at some retailers/restaurants/bars in certain ports. Does anyone know if this is still the case and whether there is such for San Francisco and San Diego ports?

It is downright thievery for Princess to require you to add a credit card to shoreside account in order to get into the Green Lane…when the only available ports are the Caribbean and Alaska.

I have used a $10 through away debit card (rebate/class action) to meet this requirement.

Then like idiots, Princess made it my onboard default card.  Had to clear this up with Guest Services when I couldn’t activate my casino account.

Please pay directly with the vendor, especially the small shop owners who have to raise their prices to cover the transaction fee.

@cr8tiv1  Have never once filled that out.  Four cruises in my app right now, all green lane with no shoreside info added.  When the app first started I remember some were forced to to complete that, but it hasn’t been the case for a while.  Just skip it.

Have never completed shoreside pirchase garbage.  Of course they want a cc on file to close out your cruise tab.  The signing up is very confusing and should not be..

I guess they "trained" me well.  I thought I had to do this since I had to in the past. Thank you to all that have "tested" out the no fill box.  I won't be doing this again.

I thought it was pretty insane to have to do this for Greenland since there were obviously no shoreside shops at these ports.

There actually are at least 4 shops in Quarqtog.  Two really nice And no they do not accept Princess pay.  Visa is fine

Please be kind to the vendors and pay with cash/credit and not use your Medallion. They lose money on the deal.

No one is making the store owners participate.  If they lost money on the transaction, they would be foolish to participate. If it does bring additional business at a higher cost, they most likely raise ALL prices to maintain their profits. It is wise to avoid any shop that participates for this reason. Shop their competitors.

Yes, I found the shops in Greenland.  I was referring to shops with shoreside pay (which none were available).  Out of the 4 countries we stopped at, none had Princess Shoreside Pay with the medallion.

Shoreside pay hurts the vendor on land. Doubt SF and SD will have any participants due to the already high costs of doing business in CA.
