:) Hi, we only get one choice?

At least give us a number that says "OTHER":D and that can

be a combination of lots of your choices.

I cruise for way more than ONE of the reasons above, but not

all of them listed I care about either.

So I can't vote:eek:

Sorry, unless you put an additional choice..no voting from me.

I am not good at challenges...I am just a simple gal.

I love dressing up for formal nights

I love meeting new friends

I love seeing new places

I love trying new martinis

I love rest and relaxtion

I love being pampered

They are all 1) or at least 1A

I love sailing X.:D

I totally agree with Lois. There are many reasons to cruise, the food, the rest and relaxation, being out on the ocean. I could go on and on.

We love to travel. I think the best way to see islands is to cruise. You only have to unpack once and you get to have good food and serivce in between! - Most islands are small and you can see a lot in one day. Occationally, ships will stay overnight at a port. - Even better! - A floating hotel! We are leaving for Hawaii tomorrow. I don't know that we could have had the time or the will, (not to mention the money) to island hop to Kauai, Maui, Oahu and the big island all in one trip if we didn't take a cruise.

Doing a poll on the reasons people cruise is a good idea, but I am not sure you could nail down the number one reason. It would be nice to hear what folks like best about cruising though.

Happy Cruisin'

Dennis

Everyone of us cruises for a different reason and everyone has more than one reason I am sure. For me, it has changed throughout the years; at one time it was strictly to see new places followed by the food; neither are that important to me anymore. Spending x number of days away from my everyday routine is number one: spending time with friends and family enter the picture as well. Seeing new ports is still important but not as much so. Of course I love trying new food and am partial to cruise lines that have a variety of dining experiences.

In the beginning dressing up, the capt party, formal nights, all this played a role as well, now I am at the other end of the spectrum: I prefer not to dress up, could care less about the capt party and don't always get off the ship when visiting ports I have seen. Times change, and I guess we do as well. NMnita

Getting away from the phone and computer? I love the food, crave the sea air, adore not living on a schedule but I really appreciate getting away from the computer (I work online so it's nice to have a complete break from that....I don't even bring my laptop along!)

Prior to going on a cruise, we give a few people a number where we can be reached in case of an emergency and prepay any bills that will be due while we are on vacation. Then during our cruise, we stay away from phones and computers, so we can enjoy our vacation without thinking about everyday life in the real world. We enjoy everything else on your list, as well, but this is what makes a cruise very different than a land based vacation to us. In my opinion, the unique relaxation of being at sea is compromised when pasengers stay in touch with the real world by phone and/or computer.

I love to be treated royally. A cruise can sometimes not be rest and relaxation but it is for me. I don't have to cook and clean. I can get off the ship or not. I still have some things that must be done all of the time, but this is my time to take some time off.

If I could have chosen "all the above", I would have. We love the anticipation of planning the cruise, and the excitement that leads up to the actual sail date.

We meet old friends, new friends, and look forward to enjoying new experiences.

We spend time with each other, and quiet time alone.

You should have added "Only having to unpack once" to the list... travelling with my wife makes this a MUST HAVE requirement for all vacations.... My prefered reason is "I cruise because I can".:D

Wow, that is tough! So many of those combine to become the reasons I enjoy it! I had to pick "to enjoy the sea air though" because to me, that is truely one of the things make makes cruising unique. There is nothing like being on a ship sailing accross the sea :)

Where was:

"To spend time, alone, with my wife"

????????????????????????

Agreed! We have decided that cruising is the current vacation of choice for us because it gives our family a chance to reconnect with each other-without making each other crazy!!

It also provides us a new way to spend the holidays without the focus on the materialistic/commercialism/stress that come along with it. I'm sure we will eventually move to a new stage when there will be little ones again and it will be important to be home for Christmas morning and Christmas dinner...but for now, the kids are already talking about itineraries for the 2007 holiday season!!!

I did choose R & R because it was the closest-all encompassing answer...but the truth is above. More about family than R & R.
