Kaki321 Posted April 11, 2006 #1 Share Posted April 11, 2006 To formal night on the Carnival Miracle, my husband wants to wear a tux concoction a la "Casablanca". (think Humphrey Bogart). Black Pants White Dinner Jacket/Tux Jacket White Shirt Black Cumberbund (sp?) and Black Bow Tie Sounds pretty sharp to me! He wanted me to check anyway to see if people wear just black tuxes, white tuxes, or the combo tux like above

DiaDeGuadalupe Posted April 11, 2006 #3 Share Posted April 11, 2006 When we were on the Spirit last year, there was a gentleman who wore just what you described. I thought he looked so handsome! I say go for it. :D
swissmiss Posted April 11, 2006 #4 Share Posted April 11, 2006 My husband takes 2 tuxes, and the one is black pants, cream jacket, cream shirt, black cumber and bow tie, and he looks just fabulous, so good in fact, his friend just bought one too. Hoyaheel Posted April 11, 2006 #7 Share Posted April 11, 2006 I'm personally not a fan of a white/cream dinner jacket, but that's my personal taste and it's not incorrect. If your husband is excited to wear it, then by all means--encourage the heck out of it :D For a little personal "panache", I've always preferred patterned vests or cummerbunds, worn with a black tuxedo..... rbm444 Posted April 12, 2006 #9 Share Posted April 12, 2006 the set up my husband donned during our Sensation cruise in '01. He looked very sharp and fit in wonderfully. I always think that for the caribbean the casa blanca look is the best.
Hoyaheel Posted April 13, 2006 #10 Share Posted April 13, 2006 I always think that for the caribbean the casa blanca look is the best. Funny, I'd place it in the Mediterranean myself:p Ah, sorry, I never can resist geographical humor:rolleyes: In case my appalling grammar wasn't clear in my previous post, I meant that the cream dinner jacket "isn't incorrect", not that my taste "isn't incorrect". BlueHerons Posted April 13, 2006 #11 Share Posted April 13, 2006 Very classy and certainly formal. Patterned vests and cummerbunds are not classic. I love the white dinner jacket look!
Nliedel Posted April 13, 2006 #12 Share Posted April 13, 2006 That's what Gene wore on our last cruise for the formal nights. He also wore that combo when we got married. Sigh.
Kaki321 Posted April 13, 2006 Author #13 Share Posted April 13, 2006 Well, he went and did it, invested in a black tux - - AND a white dinner jacket! Says he's been wanting to buy formal wear for a while now. There is my excuse to cruise a few times a year - - "honey, you need to get some use out of your new tux(es)" :)
