What do you do first thing on board?

I've heard people say they check their dining assignment. I've read others run to the casino for the lanyard and get their s&s card punched. Others run to see their cabin even though they can't get in yet. Others run to the purser's desk for free cards-lol. Others say they go to the shore excursion desk first and sign up because they go so fast and they hadn't booked on line. Some have told me I must go to the kids club and sign up right away for the slumber party or we won't get in!?

Well we leave next weekend, so what should we do first? I thought you just did lunch and then checked to see if all your luggage came but I don't want to miss out on anything just because I didn't know.

Well, first thing is we check out the cabin. THIS cruise we can check out the BALCONY. Then, we usually head down to the dining room, have lunch & then walk around the ship with a drink in hand.

We're leaving in less than a week...I'll let you know when we get back!

Pride Mexican Riviera on May 7th:D

Don't listen to anyone else, there all wrong!

The first thing you do is go up to the Lido Deck & get your favorite drink!

Your on vacation, you have finally made it on the ship,(& for me that is around 12:00pm or as close as I can get to that), sit back ,relax & take it all in!

Trust me you will have all the time in the world to do what everyone else has suggested.

Enjoy your cruise :) !!!

I drop my carry ons & check out my cabin...

then head to the lido for lunch & cocktail(s)...

then wander a bit & try to get my bearings.

If I didn't get the dinner assignment I wanted - I will look into changing it while 'wandering'. Checking out the kids club will fall into the 'wandering' category on my upcomming voyage as well.

Check out the matress

Reminds me of a joke

A couple of new cruisers went to check out their balcony and then ran down to the pursers deck complaining, "We paid extra for a balcony and all we can see is a parking lot".

Your dining assignment will be printed right on your Sail & Sign Card. It will give you the time and table number. (So you know that information the minute you check in.)

We don't run anyway. We leisurely stroll down to our cabin and drop off our carryons....where I proceed to send the rest of the family on up to Lido for lunch while I pull out my bottle of Lysol and give the entire cabin a coating!

Then ~ camera in hand~ I join them for lunch. Afterward we stroll around the ship (water in hand) and take pictures.

We don't do ship excursions, already have our lanyards, and don't need another deck of cards. The boys have seen where Camp Carnival is on every class ship (except the Destiny/Truimph) so they already know what's happening there.

Just before the muster drill, we head back down to the cabin to unpack the carryons, do the muster drill and then check periodically at the cabin until the luggage arrives. I unpack the suitcases and put them away. We always have the earliest dinner seating, so but then...it is time to eat. The rest (as they say ) is history!

We like to drop our carry-on bags immediately then go out to the lido and get a drink and stand there all giddy and excited with drink in hand until we sail away....I usually start to tear up at some point  because I get so emotional.

I want to thank you for posting this question. I'm sitting here at my desk, but visions of my first moments on the ship are so real at the moment that I can't get the smile off my face!!!!:D

First thing I do is hit the bar for a tasty DOD! Then we check out cabins, put carryon stuff up. Then it's lunch and a tour of the ship to take pictures, where I'll check out our dining room table and make dinner reservations while I'm wandering about. Several more stops at the bar along the way as well. I'm usually feeling pretty good about an hour and a half after I get on the ship. :D

We leave out carry ons in the cabin then go have lunch and off to the dining room if we want to change table assignments. If not and we are on a ship we haven't sailed on, we explore the ship before everyone else gets on board. (We try to get to the port between 10:30-11 and are usually on the ship by noon)

Once on board if dining time is ok, we go to the back of the ship, sit down, grab a drink and relax. Cabin isn't going anywhere, we have usually already booked our own excursions, camp Carnival will still be there and booking is no problem, lanyards can be gotten anytime, decks of cards available most anytime. Nothing else is urgent except to chill and begin to enjoy yourself.

Did I say go to the back of the ship, sit down, grab a drink and relax?

It's not so much the time for us as the table location. My wife and I like our private time at dinner so we usually head for the dining room to locate the table. Then see the Matre'd if it isn't to our liking. We've always been accomodated.

First, we drop our carry on's in the room, then the dining room, then the buffet. We then go to the main atrium and have a drink while watching everyone board. We like to watch the faces of the first time cruisers. You can always pick them out by the audible gasp as they walk into the atrium! Plus you have to check out any eye candy coming on board!;)

Hey I'm married not dead!:p

Then we wander the ship until muster.

Oh and we scope the good seats in the theater!
