What do you do first thing on board?

I like to make sure my S&S card works properly, so I go to the first bar I see, and order me something!

You know, just to make sure the card works! Really! Why else would I be drinking before 12?

ditto for me too. First bar (to make sure card is working), then after one or two drinks of the day, check out the ship. :D

IF our cabin is ready, we head there first to check it out and unpack our carryons. From there, we may head up for a drink first or check our dining assignment. We also try to tour some of the ship and make reservations for specialty dining ASAP.

This is a great thread. I think about the cruise all the time, but I never really think about what I plan on doing first!

Check out the room if possible? Make spa appointments (I'm getting a hot rock massage!:D )

Maybe check out the table in the DR. Hoping for a window seat!!!

Maybe check out Camp Carnival with my daughter. She is very excited about it although I think she will want to spend all her time in the pool.

Explore...explore....explore!!!

Save my deck chair for the next day. It is a sea day and I heard you have to get one early! ;)

We go to the cabin and drop off the carry-on. Change into bathing suits, order drinks or a bottle of wine and climb into the nearest open hot tub and don't get out until dinner.

1) Find Cabin to be sure of location and drop off Carry-ons

2) Find a copy of the Sail-Away CAPERS!!....to see what is happening

3) Go to Lido for lunch (I normally board about 11:30)

4) Get the DOD and the souvineer glass...

5) Check out the ship to find where Karaoke, Casino, what is where on Lido, etc

6) Go to the Spa where they will always have an into talk and LOT of giveaways.

7) Any other tours of places of interest...including the Shore Talk (also lots and lots of freebies...)

8) Return to room to prepare for Muster

9) Muster

10) Return to room to get rid of the life jackets..

11) Go back to Lido and watch sail-away

12) Go to Dining Room (I always request the earliest seating)

Our first 2 cruises were over 2 years ago........you could not book excursions online (and we had our 18 year old son with us........) so we would go to our cabin to put things down, plan our excursions, and then to the desk to book them...........then walk around the ship to get our bearings

This summer, we are going with another couple and no children! I'm sure we will book excursions online and who knows? Walk around? Have lunch?

1. Check out the room, drop off luggage.

2. Straight to the SPA, make an appointment for that same night! (Everyone else said it's not a vacation until they have a drink in hand? For me, it's not a vacation until I'm being massaged.)

3. Check out the dining room.

4. Wander, take some pictures, chill by the pool until Muster Drill.

I live a life of too-much-stress and it's very hard for me to turn that off and get into vacation mode... the massage always does the trick for me. It needs to be on the FIRST night, so I don't spend the first half of my vacation stressing about every little thing. After the massage, IT'S ALL GOOD. ;)

The first thing I did only my first and only cruise (so far) was go straight to the open upper deck where lots of people were for the sail-a-way party and what provided us with an amazing view of the city of Seattle. Then went to the cabin to drop off hand luggage and off to explore the ship.

we normally get on the ship 2 to 3 hours before it sails. we immediately get a drink and check our dining options, reserve a table in supper club if available on the ship. Just crusie around and get to know the ship before sailaway.

The first thing we usually do, after dropping our stuff off at the cabin, is to go around the ship and take pictures - it's the best time to get good ship pics because there aren't that many people onboard yet.

I've heard people say they check their dining assignment. I've read others run to the casino for the lanyard and get their s&s card punched. Others run to see their cabin even though they can't get in yet. Others run to the purser's desk for free cards-lol. Others say they go to the shore excursion desk first and sign up because they go so fast and they hadn't booked on line. Some have told me I must go to the kids club and sign up right away for the slumber party or we won't get in!?

Well we leave next weekend, so what should we do first? I thought you just did lunch and then checked to see if all your luggage came but I don't want to miss out on anything just because I didn't know.

we get a drink and start exploring the ship and then eat..;)

1. Drop off carry on

2. Mix a drink

3. Repeat step 2

4. Repeat steps 2 and 3

5. Repeat steps 2-4

6. Repeat steps 2-5

7. Well, you get the picture

How many drinks is that?

Probably enough to be somewhere between toasted and passed out before muster drill.
