boowaaccaa Posted September 15, 2006 #1 Share Posted September 15, 2006 Hi there..tried this question on the Carnival page without much luck so I thought I'd try it here. I saw these coupons on the Carnival website--4 drinks for $19.50 http://carnival.com/BonVoyage/AddToCart.aspx?pid=BAR The some one else told me they are only good for certain drinks and that you have to present the coupon and pay extra for most drinks....does anyone know???? spookwife Posted September 15, 2006 #2 Share Posted September 15, 2006 there is a price limit on the drink.. I don't remember off the top of my head what that is, but any drink that cost more than this max you will be charged extra for. I THINK it's good on drinks up to the price of the daily special, Which was $4.95 if I recall correctly.. we only drink wine, and I know any coupons we might have had would not have covered the price of the glasses we drank. we averaged $5.50/glass
boowaaccaa Posted September 15, 2006 Author #3 Share Posted September 15, 2006 So then...their really is no point to buying them...LOL Thanks for the info!!
luvcruzen Posted September 15, 2006 #4 Share Posted September 15, 2006 So then...their really is no point to buying them...LOLThanks for the info!! It sounds like the only advantage would be that you would pay for them now, instead of at the end of the cruise.
Gainesville cruiser Posted September 15, 2006 #5 Share Posted September 15, 2006 We always take a few sheets of bar coupons with us. You may find a bar tender who will take them for any drink. I've gotten my favorite appletini with them, plus some glasses of wine that were over and above. I'm happy with the wine that fits the constraints of the coupon, so no problem for me there. They are convenient at times and the gratuity is included... At dinner if I order a glass of wine from the wine steward, they take the coupon, no problem. tanda4 Posted September 15, 2006 #7 Share Posted September 15, 2006 I am one of 7 friends going on the RCL Grandeur of the Seas 1/27/07 out of New Orleans. I am reading alot about the "coupons" to use onboard. Where can we get these? or does anyone have any they can't use or want to sell?
Sianli Posted September 16, 2006 #8 Share Posted September 16, 2006 RCCL doesn't have them---just Carnival as far as I know. Grandeur is a great ship!

Lynniego Posted September 17, 2006 #10 Share Posted September 17, 2006 Does anyone know if bar coupons can be purchased on Celebrity Cruise Lines?? Thanks, Lynniego
boowaaccaa Posted September 20, 2006 Author #11 Share Posted September 20, 2006 I tried to get them on line but no luck! Website said invalid room numer or booking number. I called my TA and Carnival and confirmed the room and booking number with both. I explained my problem with Carnival and they said, "Call back next week and talk with web support".... Please note I am cruising next week! LOL
Irish_Jewel5 Posted September 26, 2006 #12 Share Posted September 26, 2006 When we travelled on the victory last year, I had purchased a set of 4 drink coupons every two weeks, ( payday lets say $20 not a big deal) The coupons were accepted for everything we ordered, regardless of the price of the drink... we didnt order wine so i do not know.. however, any cocktail which was more expensive, the coupon was always accepted no questions asked. Also remember, these coupons include taxes and the 15% gratuity, so you are getting in a lot of cases a more expensive drink, with the gratuity included, whereas putting it on ur S&S you would pay teh full price of the drink, and an additional 15%. These coupons are the way to go for several reasons: Buying them every two weeks or even once a month, or at whatever intervals you wish, is a lot easier than having all your drinks added to your sign and sail and pay for them all at once. Myself and my husband are not big drinkers however it is difficult to pass up those frozen daquiris on deck when the sun is blasting down. Our coupons were delivered to us the first evening in the dining room, and we carried them with us in our little pouch in the event we wanted a drink. Contrary to that, beer prices are cheaper, and the staff will always suggest you dont use a coupon for beer purchases, cheaper to put it on your S&S. Hope this helps
molly361 Posted September 26, 2006 #13 Share Posted September 26, 2006 Or you can take the extra $20 or whatever per pay period and have it applied directly to your sail and sign card and start your cruise with a credit balance - there have been lots of threads with the pros (paying a little at a time is less painful) and cons (you could be earning interest on the money) We usually start every cruise with a credit balance of a few hundred dollars
serene56 Posted September 27, 2006 #14 Share Posted September 27, 2006 Boo- call the 1-800 number and order drink coupons ASAP-- (it might be too late to order coupons for your cruise next week.) Coupons do not save you money-- maybe the msot is 25 cents each drink. They do prepay your bar bill. For Irish Jewel-- you kinda lucked out on two accounts.. you cruised before prices went up this year. and found too many waiters that didnt know the stuff. Lucky you and hope ya played in the casino some that week. Coupons today will only get you drinks that costs under 5. bucks.. so if your drink is a frozen foo foo drink--the coupons are for you. here is a rice menu for the new bar pricing. http://community.webshots.com/album/521755807XYeiOA another best way to prepay your bar bill is to buy funship dollars. I got one each pay for 25.00 for the duration of my wait.. by the time I sailed I had over 600.00 which I got a check the last night for 434.00 that you can cash at the pursers desk for free..or take it with you and cash at home. the number for funships dollars to be mailed to you is.1-800-906-7603 or you can have the amount put directly onto your sign and sail account- you wont see it til you are onboard. (keep all correspondence and take it with you (jsut in case)
MN Cruiers Posted October 3, 2006 #15 Share Posted October 3, 2006 They are only good for beer and bar pour. They are only good if you want to keep your room tab lower. The bar coupons include tip. I did it my first cruise, I wont do it again.

I did it my first cruise, I wont do it again. beer and bar pour?? (what is bar pour??) I used my coupons to get frozen drinks like pina colada, miami vice and dirty bananas. I used the coupons to get refills in the soverneir cups. Coupons are good for any drink up to 4.95 and does include tip. So buying a drink that cost 4.95 saves you the tip since its already there. Here is a menu with the new bar prices.. http://community.webshots.com/album/521755807XYeiOA I do agree not to order coupons if you think you are gonna save money-- in the long run its the people who dont know the prices and buy a beer that costs 3.50 will be losing lots of money. (want a beer-- get the 16 oz size. Only get the coupons for prepaying your bar bill only -- not for saving money.
Sianli Posted October 4, 2006 #17 Share Posted October 4, 2006 I am trying to figure out----do the bartenders still get their tip or does this gyp them? I don't want to help the cruise line gyp them!
serene56 Posted October 4, 2006 #18 Share Posted October 4, 2006 The coupon has a tip already in it...so you are not gyping the bar waiter
cruisinbuddy Posted October 5, 2006 #19 Share Posted October 5, 2006 I'm glad I found this thread, because I'm going to be sending DW & myself a gift basket and it includes 4 coupons. So I'll use them for the mandatory Pina coladas. I was looking at the drink menus, thanks serene56, and it would be a waste to buy beer with them. serene56 Posted October 5, 2006 #20 Share Posted October 5, 2006 it would be a waste to buy beer with them. Not if you get the 16 oz aluminum bottles. You can also use the coupons towards a bottle of wine a dinner. BUddy-- what kind of basket are you getting? Remember--fruits and cheeses you can get for free from the lido buffet. Choc covered strawberries can be had from the specialty coffee shop 5 for 3 bucks. (tons cheaper then the gift page thats for sure)
