First time - Guarantee

Have been on 20+ cruises. Decided to book a guarantee this time.

We understand we could wind up w/ almost anything-anywhere.

The question is.....when do we find out?

Could it be even as late as when we board?

When would be a "normal" time to hear?

I've booked 4 guarantees with HAL, and usually knew 3-4 wks. prior to sailing where my cabin was located. However, your mileage may vary. Some people don't find out until they board the ship.

The "normal" (is there really such a thing?) time to learn your cabin assignment is 1-2 weeks before sailing. It can be further out, and it can be as close in as day of sailing.

We booked a Guarantee this time too. Guess we'll just keep checking ...:)

Hey, We booked in the summer for Nov 13 of this year. We booked directly with HAL via phone.

 

we received an email notice 3 days prior to sailing of what our cabin was. It was a very nice handicapped cabin that I guess never was booked by a handicapped cruiser. So in our case later was better.:)

starting about 4 weeks from sailing you can go to the HAL website and act as though you are attempting to book your excursions online. It will ask you to enter your booking number and once you do that it will either show "guar" if your stateroom hasn't been assigned yet or once it has been, it will show your stateroom number. We had a guarantee on Westerdam in Oct and it seems to me that the cabin number showed up about 3 weeks prior to sailing.

We got our assignment about 6 weeks prior to sailing and did not get upgraded. I have always felt, the longer it takes the more likely you are to get an upgrade. This may not be the case, but it seems to be. NMNita

I have already booked a ff guarentee for Nov sailing of Volendam. guess I can expect to hear around middle of October.
