We are on the ship for the second of our B2B cruises. The captain this time is still Peter Russell; the cruise director is Janet Edwards. Sailaway was delayed until 6:10pm because of late arriving passengers...we were up on deck and saw a bus pull in about 5:20pm. We will certainly have to move to get to Curacao on Monday morning.

Turnaround for B2B passengers was handled with typical Princess efficiency. We often do B2B cruises, and only Royal Caribbean does it better; Celebrity still hadn't gotten the hang of it when we last did one with them. We met in the atrium lounge at 9:20am, waited around till 9:35am when we were escorted off the ship by a passenger services person, showed our passports to immigration and were walked back on the ship. We then walked over to the Publix on 17th (about a 15 minute walk) to purchase wine and flavored coffee creamer (which is what it takes to make Princess coffee palatable). Our new mini bar setup had arrived by the time we returned. We watched sailaway with a drink in hand, and just came from dinner. No show for us tonight...we're going to the disco!

The sewage smell in the hallway was heavily deodorized between cruises, but the smell had already returned when we left for dinner. It's obvious it is going to be an issue again, but, luckily, does not affect us in our cabin.

I'll post occasionally, especially about the ports.

The sewage odor for our area is coming from toilet malfunctions in A707. Last cruise the passengers in that cabin had to be moved after several days. The plumbing guys are constantly working on it, we see them in the hallway every day, but it doesn't seem to be fixed. This morning, however, the smell was just about gone. This is not a show-stopper for us, we talked with 2 other people on the last cruise (Aloha front, and Caribe midship) where they encountered a similar problem. Again, there is no smell at all in our cabin. We were told by passenger services that this is an older ship, and plumbing issues occasionally arise.

I don't recall key lime pie in the dining room last cruise, but I'll watch for it this time around. I did have key lime ice cream one afternoon in the buffet, and a wonderful key lime mousse in the buffet. I love key lime pie too, and will be on the lookout more diligently.

For these 2 days, I want to SLOW DOWN a bit, but have already been to line dancing (which I love). We managed to get to the disco last night for a bit, but skipped the welcome aboard show. Tonight is formal, we have a CC get together at 2pm in the Wheelhouse, and the rest of the day I plan to lie in a lounge on Deck 7 and read. Heaven!

Thanks for the info, I too love key lime pie - especially Costco's (without the cream:eek: ) and now you have me feeling like some - yummy!!!:D :D

Hope we don't have plumbing problems on our cruise:eek:

Sounds like a relaxing 2 days in store for you!!! Enjoy!!!

Today, Sunday, was at sea, and we had a wonderful Cruise Critic get together scheduled for 11:30am (and noted in the Patter, thanks to juliejoe and cruise director Janet Edwards). We had a great time. Janet provided champagne, more than enough, so that some of us (including me) got very relaxed. We then followed it up with a lunch in the dining room as a group, and, as usual, we had a fun time getting to know our fellow CCers better and discuss past cruises. Is there anything we love more than to hear of others' travels and talk about our own great memories?

At 3pm was the Princess grapevine wine tasting...we went just to add to our cordial glass collection, because I certainly didn't need any more wine. But, while I was there....:o

At 4pm, the Saints/Bears game was broadcast in the Princess Theater. Of course, we were there, because while cruising is great, football reigns supreme at our house. Our intention was to grab a quick pizza between games, but we still weren't hungry. Instead of watching the Colts/Patriots game in the Shooting Stars disco, where it is being broadcast, we are being slugs and watching it in our cabin. The seas are a bit rough, with "moderate gale force" winds. It is quite bumpy, and the sea sick bags are out all over. We are quite fortunate to not be bothered that way, generally, but the ample wine and food today have made us lazy.

I had to pay to trip to the ship's doctor today for a minor problem I've had since the beginning of last cruise (I am allergic to something I've encountered on this cruise, either the detergent used to wash the sheets or my sunblock). After self medicating for 12 days, I finally gave in and went to see Dr. Heather, senior doctor from South Africa. She was wonderful, the visit was cheap ($60 plus $17 for two prescriptions), and I am already much better. Why was I stubborn?

Formal night dinner last night was simply excellent. We had our favorite waiter, Rui from Portugal, and the food, the table mates, the service...they all added up to a wonderful evening. We went to the comedian (new this cruise)...he was pretty good, lots of one liners, and then I went to the late production show, Piano Man (it must have been about my 12th time seeing it, but I never tire of it). Again, the production team did a great job.

Tomorrow we're in Curacao...we have no firm plans, but may try to find a moped rental. Captain Russell said last night that we're expected to arrive on time, despite the late departure from Port Everglades. I know that is why he is not slowing down, despite the weather. He is a most delightful captain, very friendly and outgoing...amazing, really. Most British captains aren't quite so sociable. And Janet Edwards is a hoot...we are really enjoying her bubbly personality and enthusiasm. It is nice when the second of B2B cruises manages to be just as exciting and fun as the first.

No sewage smells for two days!!!! Yeah! Very nice. I know that they were working on it constantly, and it is nice that their efforts have paid off. Also no noro, no mechanical issues, no problems at all. We are having a great time!

I'll be back in a day or two...got to get back to that game!:D

Thanks for the update. The last time Janet was our CD was 2 years ago on the Sun, and I remember her spraining her ankle while dancing on Island Night.

Glad the good Doctor from South Africa fixed you up. It seems that most Doctors on Princess ships are from S.A.

Keep enjoying the second leg of your B2Bs...we will be doing the reverse order.

We are back home. Back at work already. The official weight gain was 15 lbs for the 10 days. Yes, the food was good.....

Greg, I was able to check on the 'fine' print of the Timeshare. There is a lot more fees than he explained. Just about everything you do has a fee. The property only covers for 1 year the exchange program. It is $89 a year after that. Guess who has to pay. So, now that I have done my research, I think I will call and cancel the buy. Lets see how easy that goes. Oh yea, the Airfare from LA to St. Thomas... $650-700 per person. It is over $350 r/t from FLL or MIA.....

Hope you all have fun.

South Africa has some very good medical schools that have always been very well recognized throughout the 'western' world.

Of course us South Africans are also great friendly people:D :D :D

For PescadoAmarillo...

I've been living vicariously through your "live" postings. I'll be on the SUN in May (Alaska) and am wondering if you know whether Capt Russell & C.D. Janet will remain on the ship for the Alaskan itinerary?

;) Thanks for the great posts.

We'll be boarding the sun Monday jan. 29th for what we know will be a great 10 days.

Nice to read that the plumbing has been dealt with. :) Our cabin is on the Caribe mid Deck.

Do you know if the same captain will be on the Sun for the next voyage?

Thanks again & enjoy.

We were in Caribe 716. Very nice location. I received a lot of exercise walking to the buffet.
