pickleo Posted March 27, 2007 #1 Share Posted March 27, 2007 Do any of you ladies wear bermuda shorts to dinner with a nice top and a pair of sandals or heels? There is a topic on the RCCL board where a man says his mum was turned away from the dining room because she was wearing shorts. I have 2 nice bermuda shorts planned for dinner, and now I'm worried. karen sharpe Posted March 27, 2007 #2 Share Posted March 27, 2007 I don't mean to be trite but shorts are shorts...I wouldn't wear then to dinner in the traditional dining room on a cruise.:)

Cruzfan34 Posted March 27, 2007 #5 Share Posted March 27, 2007 I wouldn't try to wear them. They say shorts and t-shirts are not allowed in the dining room for dinner. I'd say Bermuda shorts fit into that category. ;)

Yes, I would. I do wear them out to nice restaurants with heels and a very dressy blouse. I wear them as an alternative to skirts. No sandals or knit shirts. Hoyaheel Posted March 27, 2007 #10 Share Posted March 27, 2007 Any style of shorts that would look good on me (the style BlueHerons posted do NOT look good on me) would be inappropriate for the dining room at dinner on a cruise. I don't like to wear shorts much anyway--Im all about the skirts;)
karen sharpe Posted March 27, 2007 #11 Share Posted March 27, 2007 I have to agree with Hoyaheel they are NOT for a 5 star restaurant nor the traditional dining room!!:o

caviargal Posted March 29, 2007 #13 Share Posted March 29, 2007 Frankly, I am amazed that she was turned away on an RCI ship. I have seen worse than bermudas on several occasions. I like the look Blue Herons describes but it is too young for me so, no, I would not wear them to dinner.
RachelD Posted March 29, 2007 #14 Share Posted March 29, 2007 I think something like this would look great on casual night in the dining room: [/url] Or this: I think Bermuda shorts can be dressed up more than some skirts out there. If I could wear Bermudas...I would, but God did not bless me with long legs and wearing long shorts makes my legs even shorter!

I even wear it to a traditional office. I wouldnt wear that first picture with the girl in the tight brown tanktop. I think if you are going to go for the shorts in the dining room to try it with a short sleeve or cap sleeve top minimum. You want to look a bit more covered on top to get away with the shorts, and her brown top and her jean shorts were TOO tight. IMO.

FloridaLaura Posted March 29, 2007 #17 Share Posted March 29, 2007 I bought 2 pair of bermuda shorts for daytime around the cruise, with flat sandals and tanks I don't think it would work in the dining room, but they are so cute :)
DizziDezi2 Posted March 29, 2007 #18 Share Posted March 29, 2007 I didn't say to take the look literally. Oh of course not. I didnt mean anything towards you. Just in general that I thought her top was too tight for dinner.

travel girl23 Posted March 30, 2007 #20 Share Posted March 30, 2007 Perfect for a casual dinner on the Lido Deck. I would not wear shorts to the dining room. Just my opinion.
Nitra Posted March 30, 2007 #21 Share Posted March 30, 2007 I think they are cute and would get them to wear into port, but not to the dining room either. Im all about skirts too. I am taking capris and one pair of bermuda shorts for port wear, but dinner, every night is skirts/dresses, except one formal night I have some great pants that look like a skirt from the back, but pants from the front, wear them with a sequin top and bolero tux length jacket. I have some black sequin pumps to go with them too.
mariapd719 Posted March 30, 2007 #22 Share Posted March 30, 2007 Im short so the bermudas are the perfect length capris on me. I dont have to shorten them
happysinglemom Posted March 30, 2007 #23 Share Posted March 30, 2007 I wouldn't consider those britches in the pic "bemuda shorts"...but that is a regional thing obviously. I call that length pedal pushers...but it would still not be something I would wear in the dining room.
pcur Posted April 1, 2007 #24 Share Posted April 1, 2007 Bermuda shorts are only considered dressy in Bermuda, and they wear them EVERYWHERE. If it's above the knee just slighty: pedal pushers More above the knee: Bermuda, then you get into plain ole shorts. Below the knee: capris, floods. I don't consider anything I've metioned above as really appropriate for a nice 5-course dining restaurant. People tend to confuse the casual, resort atmosphere of the daytime on a cruise ship as being OK in the evening, and it is, but not in the nicer eating areas. trvlgrl422 Posted April 3, 2007 #25 Share Posted April 3, 2007 It has been so hard to find dressing clothing for my teen. We founds a cute pair of these and thought she could wear heels and a nice dressy shirt.
