Who the hell is Ross Kemp? and who the hell is Lauren,

And is she a Prime Minister?

and while we're at it, who the heck is Tony Blair?

Isn't he a friend of our Georgie Porgie?

(SorryI couldn't help myself. I have to go to bed now. I have a headache!)\anon

OK - Lauren is the schoolgirl character played by Catherine Tate and is the epitome of the flower of British youth!!! Her catchphrase is 'am I bothered?' or 'I ain't bothered' etc - which in the sketch is usurped by TB. Ross Kemp is a C list celebrity and ex-Soap Actor!!!

Its not so much the lack of water in the cabin that got me excited, more the workmen in the cabin trying to fix it, and the free bottled water that was supplied and a bottle of Champage that was a nice bonus.... But it was interesting to see the collection of pipes when the bathroom roof was dismantled, As you can see lm very easily impressed.

She wouldnt dare ask.... would she  When the plumber asked about my U bend l was just thankful it wasnt one of those suction or vacum toilets, l do believe with lack of pressure they are quite volotile and can give a blow back.. or a whoosh as Dr Roberts describes in his book C Six, invloving one of our cousins from Congress:eek: I often wonder if it was Jimmy Carter.... You can just imagine it:)

I'm with you there - seeing how something works in always more interesting than seeing it working properly.:)

I seem to remember after the Queen's retrofit in the mid-nineties, (the ship, not the royal) there were "unadvertised bidets" in some rooms (whatever those are!) Or maybe there was the pleasant tinkling of in-room fountains to lull you to sleep. From the gents with sawz-alls and hammers in the corridors.

Hmm, when I think of some of the terms used in plumbing, ballcocks and nipples and such, (Leave my p-trap out of this!) and then I think about

:eek:FASHION HORROR!!! Plumber's butt!:D

Well, Let's just say that these men were in your room <ahem> laying pipe as it were, and flossing their joints (you know, one must use floss before soldering- or is that flux, I am thinking of?) <G>

Oh.. Um, I have to sign off now. I have to ..er.. uh... go check my plumbing or something!

Anon!

P.S. So WHAT DO I GET FOR AN AD IN MY POST? A PICTURE OF A GUY, DRAGGING HIS BAG BEHIND HIM?

Assuming that you don't mean whatever "rooms" are, I've read that bidets became especially popular in Europe after WWII when in many countries "the money fell apart in your hands, but you couldn't tear the toilet paper." Of course, plumbing on ships was much more reliable when they didn't have any.

Damn! They changed my ad! I had a guy with a rolling suitcase in an airport before!

And the bidets were aka spouting geysers, aka the toilets in the staterooms of the QE2.

And yes, I know what flux is. I've used it!

Karie,

who isn't as dumb as I appear, no actm no I mean as dumb as I seem.

Well, anyway, I used to be a mechanic and have done quite a bit of house- work No-not cleaning- I mean stripping, plastering (taught myself how to do that with lathe) rabbeting, glazing, and yes brazing and soldering! We owned a 60-70 year old house, and did most of the work on it ourselves. Also volunteered a couple of times for Christmas in April (now Building Together) and Habitat for Humanity. Don't ask about my first time pointing masonry- filling in and patching an old stone foundation- gloves got in my way, so went bare handed stuffing it in between the stones. Any one who has worked with this marvelous alkali material (burns worse than acid) will know I spent the next week with every finger wrapped in bandages- and sitting in a tub crying when I got home that day from the pain! (soaking my fingers!)

No, Not dumb at all!... any more!
